Most Offensive Movie Trailer Ever

How fucking wrong is this bullshit?

Normally the presence of Larry the Cable Guy alone is enough to induce movie popcorn vomit, but he’s amazingly the least of this movie’s problems.

Well, not the least. The least of its problems is that a Slim Jim product placement is masquerading as a joke and that its title is a crummy pun on a pretty much OK Chuck Norris/Lee Marvin picture.

What Hollywood genius decided this was the right time for a wacky movie about yokels in the military? Where they so confident in Bush’s surge strategy that they figured by the movie’s release the war would be over and ripe for broad comedy? Say what you will about Ernest in the Army – at least it was released during peace time.

Then they go to Mexico? Seriously, what the fuck? Was Iraq not an awkward enough hot button issue to delve into? They had to make hacky and vaguely homophobic cross-dressing gags about a bunch of idiot soldiers who accidentally invade Mexico? It's not a Minuteman as comedy plot, judging from the Trailer, but it's close enough to be extremely awkward. (In a queasy coincidence, a speaker at an anti-immigration rally I watched as a ended a speech by saying “git ‘r’ done.”)

Maybe there could be a sequel where these idiots are supposed to guard an abortion clinic but instead end up accidentally re-opening Abu Ghraib, call it Stem Cellblock or something.

Dumbest news article ever. Seriously, do I give a fuck about your opinion on whats offensive? My grandmother thinks its offensive when Everybody Loves Raymond says "hell". Your offended by military action in Mexico fronted by rednecks. The both of you can take a flying fuck at the man in the moon. (or start an article about how me being offensive offends you).

Sorry, people who get easily offended kind of offends me blush

Damn. Seemed like there could have been an ounce of potential with a story like that. In a summer of bullshit sequels and remakes, anything different would seem more appealing to me even if it stars a dude who's comedy and command of the English language baffles me. Unfortunately, the preview: no bueno. The only thing remotely offensive is actual money was spent making it, money that could have been used to maybe build a new cancer ward in a hospital, help the tornado ravaged city of Greensburg, or promote a safe sex program for Larry the cable guy and his breeding minions.

In regards to Civic Duty, I saw Peter Krause on a late night show and his take on his character was that the guy, who has been recently laid off and is struggling with his personal life, becomes obsessed with media depictions of 9/11. His obsession stems from the fact that he has nothing except free time on his hands, and he doesn't want to deal with the reality of his own life. He basically takes the 9/11 information that he becomes obsessed with and starts focusing all of his attention on his neighbor. At the end of the movie...

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

The main character has lost his wife and he's in a mental institution-- still creating stories about the neighbor and imagining that he has been right all along. In the end, the film seems to be more of a commentary on the fear mongering of the media and how some people, like the main character, can become so engrossed in what the media is feeding them that they lose touch with the reality of daily life.

Not a surprise - the trailer seemed to scream "THE SHOCKING TWIST IS THE ARAB GUY DIDN'T DO IT!!1!1!OMG!1!". Funny part is I could see a bunch of Bushies and neocons going to see it, thinking they're gonna see the "terrerists git whats commin to em"; and getting pissed that they were duped into a "profiling is bad" after-school special.

I can see the offense, here - taking a serious situation that people are dying over (the war) and mixing it with tones of illegal immigration - not to mention throwing in tired insults at the military in the process.

Sure, it's a stupid movie, but people will go see this movie. And accept a lot of the stupidity as fact. No, I don't think it should be prevented from being released, I'm more upset that people thought it was a good idea to make it, in the first place.

Just makes me wonder what their intentions are (other than to make people laugh), and how educated they are on the topics touched on in the movie.

That's why it bothers me, too. People are going to get the wrong idea from the movie...

Um, no. No one is going to "get the wrong idea from the movie." People are going to get whatever idea they want out of the movie, just like they do anything else.

Big freaking deal. Larry The Cable Guy makes a movie.

People will pay to see it, others won't go to see it. Life will go on.
