Six-String Masterpieces: Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute

Last Sunday, while languidly drawing at Doctor Sketchy, I had the pleasure of boozing up with one Curse Mackey.

Curse, you see, plays in Pigface and is the creative director of Action Arts Agency. It seems he's put together a rather interesting-sounding art exhibit, Six-String Masterpieces, which debuts this Friday at La Luz De Jesus in Los Angeles.

If you're near LA this weekend and enjoy things like art and RAWK, you must check this out. I know I'll be there.

Six-String Masterpieces: The Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute has it's LA debut this Friday night, May 4 at LaLuz DeJesus Gallery (4633 Hollywood). See 60+ guitars that have been hand-painted by today's leading musicians, tattooists and visionary artists. The Exhibit runs through May 16. On May 17 the collection will be auctioned at House of Blues Hollywood to benefit LITTLE KIDS ROCK, America's coolest music education program for public schools across the USA.

The Auction Gallery can be viewed at www.LittleKidsRock.org/6string
Own a piece of rock history and support Music education for the next generation of rockers!

See original paintings on guitar by Rob Zombie, Kerry King, Paul Booth, Marilyn Manson, Alex Grey, Mark Ryden, Ace Frehley and many more...

And, of course, i wouldn't leave you without just a few samples of what you'll see at the show, my lovely picture-hungry vultures.

Bob Tyrell

Mark Ryden

Rob Zombie

Daniel Martin Diaz

Paul Booth

this is fucking awesome! I saw the exhibit at NAMM earlier this year.

I hope he will be around to chat to people - when I spoke to him about the cathartic effect that the exhibit had when it was in Columbus OH, I realised the amazing impact that art can have..........
not sure about the action on that Paul Booth tho.........
as Curse would say - 'dont blow smoke - start fires!!!"

I can't listen to Hollow anymore or else I start crying. I can't even think about what happened to Dimebag or else I get choked up, and then I get angry.

Sometimes I wished I still lived in San Diego. Then I could see that awesome Paul Booth guitar in person.

I hate my wife. She says I can't bid on the Ryden one just because they expect it to sell for between $10,000-$25,000. Jeez.
