Alert: Most Remaining SG Burlesque Dates Cancelled

Most of the remaining SuicideGirls Burlesque Dates have been cancelled. SG sincerely apologizes for the disappointment and inconvenience. Full refunds will be made at each of the venues, and SG is working to reschedule all of the cancelled shows for mid-January, beginning January 17.

The cancelled dates and locations:

    November 13, 2006
    Phoenix, AZ
    Marquee Theatre

    November 14, 2006
    San Diego, CA
    Brick by Brick

    November 15, 2006
    Los Angeles, CA
    Key Club

    November 16, 2006
    Santa Barbara, CA
    Velvet Jones

    November 17, 2006
    Santa Ana, CA
    The Galaxy

    November 18, 2006
    Cabazon, CA

The SG Burlesque Troupe has been invited to open for Guns n' Roses, and they simply couldn't turn Axl down (it must be the hair). This is a very exciting opportunity for the girls, who will be performing for enormous audiences. Please wish them well, check them out with Guns n' Roses, and look for rescheduled Burlesque dates in mid-January.

SG is a business. It's always been a business, and businesses generally look to expand and reach new audiences. Why are some people so shocked by this? It's a fantastic opportunity and I wish the girls luck.

sadly not shocked, just dissappointed. I understand why they did it, I just don't agree with it.
Welcome to the new era of SG- A bunch of aging rockers who actually still listen to GNR and will likely now flood the site...

While it sucks for those who bought tix, i think i'ts pretty radsome. Not only do the girls get to tour with one of the greatest rock bands of all time, but I actually now have marginally greater than a snowball's chance in hell of seeing the show! Go SG Go!

But it is not the greatest rock band of all time as only ONE member is still in it.

Although it does suck for the people who were looking forward to the show, it is a really cool oppurtunity for the girls involved.

But I agree with the other people who say GnR should be opening for the girls, and they are gonna be a tough act to follow, for sure.

I was worried about the girls when I read the title, too.

Anyways, congrats girls!

Bravo for the girls for taking an opportunity to broaden their exposure, and bravo to the fans who support and understand their decision. (It's too bad the tours couldn't have been more synchronized, or that they couldn't finish the year and join GnR later... these girls do work hard though and deserve much credit!)

It may be a good PR choice for the present, and it may give them a LOT of chance to expand their personal portfolios. It will certainly drive more business to the SG branding.

But hm, was it really the best artistic decision for the site/brand as a whole? Maybe not. Sometimes it's better to keep a little bit of exclusivity and mystique in the long run. Flames that burn too bright often burn out too fast. People got tired of Harry Potter, Star Wars, and all the pop queen divas out there pretty damn quick when they were seen in every market available. McDonalds toys anyone?

Granted, with age and lifestyle, this sort of 'career path' has it's limits anyway, so burn baby burn! Get your 15 minutes of fame while you can girls. Enjoy the limelight- I certainly would!

Sell out? I don't think that's an issue. The whole theme behind SG is to showcase beautiful women including (but not limited to) those who don't fit the 'mainstream' image. It's about the strength and individuality of each of the girls, and of course it's about making money. IF SG ever "sold out", they wouldn't be selling much at all would they? I'm sure their business minded staff and admin are well aware of how art markets work and how to keep things fresh and profitable while maintaining the integrity of the original product.

(Also... Maybe Axl needs them to sell his show? eh?)

Here's my question... couldn't they do both? I mean, there's other SGs, over 1000 of them in fact... maybe send some other girls on the GnR tour...
