There are so many things wrong with this that I might get carpal tunnel syndrome from typing it all out.

Why do people criticize this guy for being original? Does "style" mean that you have to fit into a mold or follow a common ideal of what's "cool" today? Why would someone who claims to be an "individual" want to look and dress like everyone else?

I think there is a serious clash between two common ideals today: being an individual, and being cool or hip. You CANNOT be both, by definition. Popular culture says that to be cool I have to wear A and B, but if I really want to be an individual I should shun all trendy things and create my OWN unique style. You cannot simultaneously be cool and hip AND a unique individual.

So choose! Either follow the herd and be a fashion "sheep" OR try to create your OWN style and ignore what society tells you is cool or hip. By following today's trends and styles, you are taking the easy way out and you are no better than someone blindly following religion or a political dictator.

The trendsetters and the truly original people in society are the ones who create their OWN style or their own original ideas. These people have always been outcasts, so it's a hard life to really be original, thus why most people choose to follow trends and traditions and just become like everyone else.

Good thoughts. The problem is, the guy in the photo created his own look and it happens to look like shit.
