It feels like I’ve been interviewing Broken Lizard my whole life. For the release of Club Dread, UGO.com flew me out to Los Angeles to interview director Jay Chandrasekhar and co-writer/star Erik Stolhanske. The freelance cameraman they hired told me we were going to a park. I thought that would be cool. It turns out that this freelance dude’s version of a park is an industrial park with broken bottles everywhere, graffiti spray painted and--no joke--three Mexican dudes playing banjos while their kids played Frisbee with a tuna fish can lid. To get into the park I had to take these two rising movie stars through a hole in a fence that was obviously ripped apart with a wire cutters. It was highly embarrassing. Since then I’ve interviewed Chandrasekhar three times on the phone, Kevin Heffernan once and visited the set of their new film Beerfest and spoken to them all.

That’s why I believe they felt comfortable enough with me at San Diego Comic-Con to reveal the plans for their next movie, which is not an official Broken Lizard movie. Maybe before the end of this year Jay Chandrasekhar will direct, Kevin Heffernan will star and Broken Lizard will produce a movie called Babymaker. To quote Chandrasekhar, “Heffernan plays a man whose semen is no good. Five years ago he donated sperm to a sperm bank. His sperm is promised to someone else so he has to break into the sperm bank to get it. Kevin Heffernan followed up with “It’s a sperm bank heist movie.”
