Another four-letter word has become so mainstream, we can expect Katie Couric to whip it out soon. According to the New York Times, the word "slut" has become the new girl greeting.

�Slut�� is tossed around so often and so casually that many teenagers use it affectionately and in jest among their friends, even incorporating it into their instant messenger screen names.

Like �queer� and �pimp� before it, the word slut seems to be moving away from its meaning as a slur.

However, while women are embracing the slut within, men aren�t necessarily on board. Says one guy:

�I think of a woman who has been around the block more times than my dad�s Chevy. I might date a slut, but I certainly wouldn�t marry one.�

At least he�ll be able to spot those wholesome ladies.

Thought it was a slur when I was in 7th grade maybe, but after that I've always used it as a term of endearment though I have got a few funny looks for that. To me a slut means a woman with a very strong sex drive, which is a whole lot better than a prude, short or long term.

My group of friends say it to each other all the time. It's lost any derogatory meaning to us and to us it's now a term of endearment between our close knit group of friends..
