How to Get Felt Up in Los Angeles

Meltdown Comics in Hollywood has long been known for its well-curated selection of comic art ephemera, but now they're marking new territory in the arts/design community and that's because of Felt Club, a monthly mini craft show. Every month, shoppers and collectors alike can visit with about 30 different artists/vendors in one fabulous place.

The show debuted in May and offers an impressive variety of original handiwork for sale direct from the artists. Affordable silk-screens and original art, handbags, clothing and cupcakes can all be found in the back parking lot. A new rotation of sought-after DIY designers are introduced each month, so be sure to mark it down on your calendar every month or you'll be kicking yourself later.

The next Felt Club throw down will take place at Meltdown Comics, 7522 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, July 8th, 11am-6pm.

Vendors for this month will include the prolific Felt Club founders cakemountain and Sew Darn Cute, gorgeous silk-screens by Jordan Crane, adorable multi-lingual t-shirts by I Heart Guts, and many more.

Clockwise from upper left: Silkscreen by Jordan Crane; Piano kid's shirt by Bumble-n-Bee; Poketo wallet design by Ryan Wallace; Owl t-shirt by boygirlparty; Heart t-shirt by I Heart Guts.

Felt Club kicks up some dirt on the second Saturday of every month, 11am - 6pm, and is located (for now) in the back parking lot of Meltdown Comics & Collectibles at 7522 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA.

Check in at the official Felt Club site for future events and locations.

I need to hit this up for sure. I hear they're going to be moving to The Echo? Does Felt Club do events in other cities? Do they have sister-events or anything? bok

felt club is unique to los angeles, and from what i hear, will be popping up at a couple different venues in the near future. there are a bunch of indie craft shows in the community, not sure if any would be described as sister shows (though organizer jenny from sew darn cute was once also an organizer for the popular boston, l.a., s.f. and cleveland craft shows, the bazaar bizarre. more about that another time!)
