The Sarah Silverman Show Coming to Comedy Central

Variety reports Comedy Central has picked up Sarah Silverman's "The Sarah Silverman Programme."

Comedy Central has picked up "The Sarah Silverman Programme" to series.

Cabler has greenlit production on six episodes that star Silverman in a series of misadventures often set to song. Project has been in the works since spring (Daily Variety, May 13).

Half-hour single-camera narrative is set to premiere this summer. Silverman exec produces with Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab ("Heat Vision & Jack") and Heidi Herzon ("Jesus Is Magic").

In the pilot, Silverman disrupts a wheelchair marathon and causes a Vietnam vet to have a traumatic flashback -- all while on the way to buy some batteries for her TV remote control. She also has a talk with God and bursts into song about her wishes to make the world a better place.

Dude, Harmon and Schrab finally got themselves a fucking show on the air?!!? and with Sarah Silverman?
Awesome. I wish this thing the best, all parties involved could make this great.
I agree with some of the 'schtick' sentiment, I hope the show won't rely solely on Silverman's solo standup style, and will be written for lasting comedy. A Mencia/Chapelle-style show of just Sarah Silverman doing the odd Sarah Silverman stand-up thing could get tiresome.
-In my mind, the fact that Harmon and Schrab are involved means it will be thoughtfully scripted and not just standup-centric.

Fantastic. She and Lisa Lampanelli make me piss my pants...

Other than them, female comedians usually aren't funny.
