For Sale: Masterpieces of Theater Legend

The bones of Alastair Cooke, onetime host of Masterpiece Theater were allegedly stolen and sold on the black market.

The New York Daily News, quoting sources familiar with the case, said the body snatchers struck shortly after the broadcaster, journalist and actor died on March 30, 2004, of lung cancer that spread to his bones.

Without permission from family members, the thieves surgically carved out the 95-year-old’s diseased bones just before his remains were cremated, the newspaper said.

Alistair Cookie, host of rival program, Monsterpiece Theater was unavailable for comment.

His family are rather upset. Mostly, it seems from the interviews I've caught, that someone might have had medical treatment derived from 95 year old cancerous bones.

Such a sad story.
