The Man Who Cried Toilet Seat Glue

Last month, Bob Dougherty sued Home Depot after claiming that he was glued to a toilet seat in one of their bathrooms and was denied help because employees thought it was a prank. Well, while the glue appeared to be real (paramedics reported that they did have to remove the toilet seat from the man's skin), it has now come to light that the same man claimed that he had been glued to a toilet seat previously in his hometown's visitors center.

Ron Trzepacz, former director of operations for the town of Nederland, where Dougherty lives, told the Rocky Mountain News in Tuesday's editions that Dougherty told him in the summer of 2004 he was glued to a toilet seat in the town's visitor center but pulled himself free.

Trzepacz told the paper he inspected the bathroom and found "no indication that anything had been on the toilet seat." No police report was filed, he said.

Dougherty's lawyer, Mark Cohen, denied his client made such a claim and said Dougherty is willing to take a polygraph test.

"The allegation doesn't make any sense," Cohen told The Associated Press Tuesday.

Neither Trzepacz nor the Nederland town administrator immediately returned a call from the AP. Nederland is about 45 miles northwest of Denver.


Dougherty is seeking damages of $3 million from Home Depot.

Perhaps he's one of those crazy people who enjoys going to insane lengths to make other people notice them, see them naked, and so on. Wouldn't surprise me. People are nuts.

See with people like this in the world there should be laws against stupid people breeding. Of course he couldn't just sure for "medical costs" he needs 3 million dollar and most of it will be for 'pain and suffering'.

If i was going to sue a company, i'd sue them for the price of the stuff to dissolve the glue and that'd be about it. Maybe my taxi fare back from hospital. not $3 mil though!

Mistress Missy- I think one of those little tubes of super glue would flush easily enough.

As far as a polygraph test, those things are total bullshit. I trust the results of a polygraph test about as far as I can throw the machine.
