Catholic Priesthood - You won't believe it till you see it!

The Catholic Priesthood, in an effort to recruit more men for the priesthood, has decided that one way to do so is to look like they're "cool".





erm... is the only word that comes to my mind.


"Just as Keanu Reeves fought against the powers of evil, a priest comes to help people fight against sin. There is a battle out there," explained Father Jonathan Meyer.



Fr. Meyer goes on to explain the (lame) caption placed on the poster:


...it speaks of a faith that meets people exactly where they are in their lives. The poster itself says, in a parody of the words which any watcher of videos knows by heart, "This faith has not been modified from its original version. Yet, it is formatted to fit your life."

Every priest at my parish was old and Irish.
Where the hell do they keep the young priests?

Also, I think a better recruitment poster would be that guy, but without the sunglasses, less green crap... And his arm around his smiling wife.

Write to them, tell them you want one, offer to pay postage (only!). It's a PR job, after all; they should be happy to send them.

I love it when young people in religious organizations think their youthful perspective will add some flava' to their church. Being young does not make your ideas cool. Just ask any dork currently weeping from the inside of a gym locker.

A friend of mine used to teach at a seminary in Lithuania. Boy, were there some hot priestlets there! love All their lessons were marked in Latin, so he got to write "sex" on their books on a regular basis. biggrin

I don't believe that was a Catholic phenomenon though; Bibleman was big among middle-class protestants. I guess Catholics want a piece of the cow pie.
