SuicideGirls Video Interview with Beowulf Star Crispin Glover

For those who slept through high school lit class, the name "Beowulf" may be nothing more than distant, saved-by-Cliff's Notes memory. For the rest of us, the name evokes a foul odor that wafts of late nights spent furiously thumbing through pages of the 700 AD English poem, trying to come to a semblance of understanding about the epic tale. Or not. There was always that one kid in class who could recite passages from the Anglo-Saxon text as if his heritage depended on it, leaving the rest of us stunned as diphthong, after diphthong, rolled off his Starbucks-stained tongue.

Regardless, if we only had then what we have now. This week marks the premiere of Robert Zemeckis' big screen, motion capture adaptation of Beowulf, starring Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Crispin Glover, Brendan Gleeson, Robin Wright Penn, Dominic Keating, Alison Lohman, and Angelina Jolie. Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary penned the screenplay -- a hedonistic tale of pride, adventure, love, monsters and heroes, with plenty of debauchery and adult humor to boot.

SuicideGirls caught up with the cast for a series of video interviews to chat about the film, in regular and IMAX theaters nationwide this Friday, November 16.

First up: Crispin Glover talks to SG about his character, the monster Grendel, who Beowulf seeks out to kill for the sake of his own honor and glory. This film is the first time Glover has worked with Zemeckis since starring as the endearing George McFly in Back to the Future and the lawsuit that followed. We asked him about the experience...

Want to see Beowulf in IMAX but spent all your money on last weekend's bender and looking at naked SGs? Well, we're giving away 50 pairs of IMAX ticket codes so you can see the film for free at participating theaters in your city. We'll send out the ticket gift codes to the first 50 people (US only) who email erin.broadley@suicidegirls.com by tomorrow November 15th, at 12 noon PST. Your email counts as the entry form. Please put "Beowulf" in the subject line. Check out my blog for rules and regulations. Enjoy, and don't blame us if you cower in the fetal position as a 30-foot-tall, naked Geat warrior comes hurling his manliness at you, yelling, "I am Beowulf!!!!"

Check back tomorrow for an interview with Ray Winstone, who plays Beowulf, and Friday for our one-on-one with John Malkovich, who plays Unferth.

I hated Beowulf, and really enjoy Hollywood's debasing it. I laugh evilly every time I see the trailer.

Crispin Glover is one of those actors that amazes in every role. Tim Roth is another. Their range is subtle, but wide. I truly enjoy their work.
