Owen Wilson Hospitalized For Self-Inflicted Injuries

Actor, funny man, and general broken-nose superhero Owen Wilson was discovered by his brother, Luke, after he had apparently cut both of his wrists and taken an un-tallied number of pills*.

Wilson was rushed to St. Johns Hospital in Los Angeles after 12:10pm on August 26th, 2007.

Luke Wilson, Owen's brother, was seen leaving Beverly Hills' Cedars Sinai Hospital with his brother Andrew at 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, According to Entertainment Tonight. Andrew was the one who found Owen, according to published reports.
....
TMZ reports that the Santa Monica Police released the following statement, "On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12:10 pm officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department. The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated."

Wilson was later transferred to Cedars Sinai, where he was reported to be in a stable condition.

Wilson was then transferred by ambulance to another LA hospital, the Cedars Sinai, around 9am (4pm Sunday, local time) where his condition was initially listed as "grim". He has since stabilised.
...
Owen's brother, Luke, was seen leaving the Cedars Sinai in a BMW with a blond friend several hours after Owen was transferred, Entertainment Tonight reported.

*It should be noted that this has not yet been confirmed as an attempted suicide:

National Enquirer editor-in-chief David Perel told gossip website PerezHilton.com that Owen's brother Andrew "found him after the suicide attempt and called an ambulance".

"Both of Owen's wrists were slashed superficially and Owen had taken an overdose of pills.

"Owen was found with a nearly empty bottle of pills next to him."

UPDATE: Owen just released this statement to TMZ:

"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

Suicide is many things -- desperate, lonely, depressing, tragic -- but I'd certainly never call it stupid.

Seriously, a man feels he has reason to take his own life, and your first reaction is to dismiss him as stupid? Grow a fucking soul, man.

EDIT: ninjatoes beat me to this, and did it better.

This is sad frown The guy has given me countless hours of laughs - I couldn't even tell you the number of times I've watched Rushmore, let alone everything else he's done - and yet he's so sad. I really hope he pulls through this.

Also, _Poptard_, please go to the Centre For Kids That Can't Read Good. Who found him? Two quotes claiming Andrew did, and you write Luke?

Dude probably doesn't have a perfect life--who amongst us does? In fact given his actions I'd guess that it's a really tough life right now, but he has more choices available to him than most people on this planet. Suicide seems like it belongs way down on the list of responses to situations for someone who has more freedom than most.

I don't think it's reasonable to emphatically describe this move as "not stupid." Personally I wouldn't call it stupid either, because I don't know what his problems are--but it could easily have been stupid. Some people kill themselves or try to kill themselves for stupid reasons, like anything else.

As another big fan of the Wilsons I try to look on the bright side that his family is around him. I hope he gets whatever it is that he needs; maybe gets out of Los Angeles and, say, back home to Texas for a while.

Really, I can't see how this fits into the fifty year plan. "Isn't it funny how you used to be in a mental hospital and now I'm in jail?" (couldn't resist)

Goleta, Yeah, man! Go Gauchos! I lived there and attended school at UCSB and waited tables at E-Bar for two years before being misplaced in Kentucky/Tennessee! Oh yeah, Owen Wilson, um, I can't help but not be sad at the whole thing, just my opinion, I'm entitled to one like everyone else is.

Is he on Mescaline again?

I don't typically pay attention to celebrity's lives, but I think I would be sad if Owen Wilson didn't make it to a ripe old age.

"...Andrew was the one who found Owen, according to published reports..."

Pick a side, we're at war.
