It must be nice to receive compliments like that, although you kind of have to take them with a grain of salt when they come from a guy like Father Henryk Jankowski, the Polish priest known colloquially as "The Golem Of Gdansk." He's famous for both his love of wine and his hatred of Jews, so it's really no surprise that he wants Mel Gibson to direct the film version of his life.

Jankowski is so hell-bent on having his fellow alcoholic-anti-Semite direct the flick that he's planning to raise funds for the film through the sale of T-shirts, cigarette lighters and other holy shit. He's no stranger to merchandising: Papa already markets a brand of wine called "Monsignore," which features his consecrated countenance prominently on the label. If the sight of his (self)-righteous mug doesn't make you want to hit the bottle, I don't know what does.

In any case, Mel and Henryk are apparently planning to meet in Poland this coming September, at which point they'll most likely knock back a few and spend some quality time bitching about all of the penny-pinching Jewish bankers who won't fund their movie.

Just goes to show there's someone for everyone out there. Awww.

when he's crazy with the braveheart face paint on... man... One of my best friends favorite movies is braveheart, but because he is jewish, he absolutely refuses to watch anything mel gibson has anything to do with. its a little funny though...

What is really sad is that Mel sounds like a pretty cool and balanced guy in comparison to Jankowski. Jankowski is a freak that even right-wing politicians are afraid to get associated with and that's despite the fact that the guy was anti-communist hero before 1989.

He's nuts, he's been accused of altar-boy molesting (police couldn't find any proof, to be fair, and they let him go) and he kept on saying things that made the church put him on internal censorship and ban from preaching for a prolonged period. That kind of speaks for itself.

It's not surprising he's so full of himself that he thinks Mel would actually want to make his biography! I mean why?! Who'd want to watch that?!?

Now how did he wiggle his way to the SG news?!

Being Polish, I wanted to think about some in-depth comment for this one, but all I can think of is "is Mel Gibson fuckin nuts to make a film about Jankowski?!". Fuck, we have dozens of anti-communist catholics, which grew to be important polititians or authorities without being fanatic, antisemitic, greedy and accused of child molesting?! I hope no studio will finance this thing.

Not a bit. Being a drunken Catholic vehemently hating Jews, it makes perfect sense.

Mel's probably drunk enough and anti-Semitic enough to overlook something so "petty" as child molestation accusations. You know, priorities. He can down a few with the Father as they goosestep down Hollywood Boulevard.
