Jim Morrison to Get Posthumous Pardon?

Jim Morrison is a legend for many reasons -- the Doors, poetry, leather pants, a tragic overdose and, of course, his infamous brushes with the law. The most notorious blunder took place during a 1969 concert in Miami, Florida where the rock-n-roll bad boy was arrested (and convicted) for indecent exposure and profanity after allegedly giving those in the front row a sneak peak of his nether regions. Unfortunately, before Morrison could follow through with an appeal, the frontman overdosed and died in a Parisian hotel.

However, a persuasive letter from Dave Diamond, a Doors fan living in Ohio, has prompted current Florida governor Charlie Crist to consider giving Morrison a posthumous pardon.

Crist admits there is some dispute to how solid the case was against Morrison

i bet Jim is thrilled about all of this.

I can envision the conversation:

Jim: "Holy shit Elvis, they are finally gonna pardon me!"
Elvis: "That's fucking awesome dude!"

oh wait, THEY'RE BOTH DEAD.

they only thing Jim has been doing lately is decomposing.

That was a bullshit charge anyway. The cops hated Morrison and all he stood for. It was jumped on by conservatives in the entertainment community (Jackie Gleason, etc), and myth became the truth. He was fucking with the crowd the whole night, with the lamb and all.

To me the man is a god. But yeah total waste of time. Regardless of the pardon people either love him or hate him or don't care. If anything the fact that right up to his death he rebeled against the police gave him cred.

Didn't the Lay guy from Enron get let off the hook because he didn't have a chance to appeal before his death?

(And because he couldn't appeal, his ill-gotten gains couldn't be touched, because he wasn't actually done.)

Sure, let Morrison off. Definitely a lesser evil.
