Lock up your daughters and your stash -- Ewan McGregor has agreed to step back into the tattered sneakers of heroin chic poster boy Renton in Porno, the long awaited sequel to 1996's Trainspotting.

Now, more than ten years on from its release, Danny Boyle, the film's director, has confirmed that Renton, Begbie, Spud and co will return to the silver screen in a follow-up to Trainspotting, revealing that he has been given the rights to the much-talked-about sequel.

Boyle has also given the clearest indication yet that the original film's leading star, Ewan McGregor, will be reunited with fellow actors Robert Carlyle, Ewen Bremner and co, claiming that "all the actors" have agreed to reprise their unforgettable roles.

Like Trainspotting, the Porno script will be based on author Irvine Welsh's book of the same name. So what's the hold up? Well, it seems Boyle is intent on waiting until the cast is middle-aged before starting production.

He said,

"Irvine has given me the rights to make the film. He could have made a lot of money selling it to one of the big production companies, but to his credit he has resisted that," said Boyle.

He added: "I just want to wait until the actors are in their 40s. I could make it now, but the problem is they all look the same. I want them to look ravaged by the passing of time".

According to his IMDB profile, McGregor is only 36 so it seems fans are going to have to wait a bit longer for the follow-up to hit the silver screen.

yeah i too thought it was ewan naked...yep i admit it thats why i clicked on it but i guess this is just as good. tho i cant remember the book that well but there might be a chance to see him naked after all!!

It's beyond ridiciulous waiting until the actors are in their 40s - they should just hire a excellent hair and makeup team, I'm sure they'd be more than capable of making the actors look old and time-ravaged. Especially as these are rich actors that are going to be taking care of themselves (and possibly having plastic surgery) to ensure it's quite a long time before they ever look 'old'.

Also, what's with all the Danny Boyle sequels? First 28 Weeks Later, now this? I'm starting to feel the guy might be running out of new material.
