Joel Schumacher's 1987 vampire gang saga The Lost Boys is a classic — a rare jem of sleazy, fangtastic teen-horror that strikes the perfect balance between corny dialog and monsters-in-the-night madness. And let's not forget the killer soundtrack.

It's also one of those movies that filmmakers should really just leave alone — meaning, don't attempt a sequel. Just don't. There have been rumors of several Lost Boys 2 scripts since the late '80s and Schumacher himself tried several times to get a Lost Girls follow-up made during the '90s.

But now Schumacher's really got his panties in a twist because Warner Bros Pictures decided to vamp-out one last time and has acquired rights to a seemingly disastrous, straight-to-DVD sequel that begins production later this year in San Diego. Vampire surf team, anyone?

[Schumacher] says, "I told them to do THE LOST GIRLS and not do a The Lost Boys sequel. There is no The Lost Boys sequel. All the boys are dead. The Two COREYS (HAIM and FELDMAN) are too old. So what would be the movie? You'd have to make up a whole new set of characters. "I said, 'Do gorgeous teenage biker chicks who are vampires. It'll be great.' But they don't listen to me."

Can anybody smell it yet? (I mean the huge SHIT TSUNAMI that will be this movie...) Seriously, why do they have to fuck with the original by attaching this piece of crap to it by virtue of the name? Hollywood has been making vampires into such crap these days anyway, would anybody have noticed another one unless it had something to do with a classic like Lost Boys? Fuck me, I don't know... puke

I had been watching 24 and there's a scene where Jack/Keifer escapes by tricking a guard to get close enough to him to fatally bite him in the neck. This of course leads to a shot of him with blood dripping down his face as he spits it out disgustedly.

Now I know he's a pro, done dozens of projects since, but I'd love to know what he was thinking when he read that script direction. I like to believe some unnamed writer suffered the equivalent of getting short-sheeted.

i loved the first one, but seriously... i was fucking 11 years old. what did i know?
