Banksy Takes on Michael Jackson

British graffiti artist Banksy unveiled his most recent piece and, as usual, the media drooled all over it. Banksy’s latest target: child lover and protector, Michael Jackson. The creation featured Jackson in a Christmas-themed scene inspired by the story of Hansel and Gretel.

Jackson is seen trying to coax a little girl and a boy with a sweet in one of four works displayed in Santa’s Ghetto, an amusement arcade that opens in Central London.

The 3,000sq ft space showcases the best in graffiti, art and sculpture from around the world. There is also a chance to win works of art by playing fairground attractions.

“I felt the spirit of Christmas was being lost,” Banksy said. “It was becoming increasingly un-commercialized and more and more.”

Although one would assume this Banksy’s attempt to rip off his clients for a quick buck, the Santa’s Ghetto project may actually do some good; the gallery will be open for 23 days, offering affordable art to consumers.

Oh snap! Making fun of Michael Jackson, how decadently avant-garde!

As is the use of, "Oh snap!"

In regards to the picture, shouldn't it be two boys instead of one of each? We must stay true to the stereotype.

Ads that "smack of commercialism"?

HAHA. Quite apart from all that, the actual image is a bit bollocks.

I used to quite like Banksy, but now he just spends his time making fun of celebrities, it's hard to see the difference between him and your average tabloid newspaper.
Can anyone explain to me what, if any, is the difference between Banksy's latest work and a copy of 'Heat' magazine?

Wow!

Never thought Banksy would fail me, dang.

I totally don't get this quote either, "I felt the spirit of Christmas was being lost," Banksy said. "It was becoming increasingly un-commercialized and more and more."

So he wants Christmas to be more commercialized?!

title should be: "bansky continues to work with tired cliches, battle irrelevance."

I hate to say it, but soon Banksy'll be able use himself.

I'll give the full quote

"It was becoming increasingly uncommercialised and more and more to do with religion so we decided to open our own shop and sell pointless stuff you didn't need."

Another article on the subject from his home town newspaper . Bristol Evening post

Ooooh, take that, Michael Jackson! Burn!

Next up for banksy: Liz Taylor has been married a lot. Milton Berle has a big schlong. Catherine the Great may have been slutty. And what's the deal with airline peanuts?
