Banksy Takes on Michael Jackson

British graffiti artist Banksy unveiled his most recent piece and, as usual, the media drooled all over it. Banksy’s latest target: child lover and protector, Michael Jackson. The creation featured Jackson in a Christmas-themed scene inspired by the story of Hansel and Gretel.

Jackson is seen trying to coax a little girl and a boy with a sweet in one of four works displayed in Santa’s Ghetto, an amusement arcade that opens in Central London.

The 3,000sq ft space showcases the best in graffiti, art and sculpture from around the world. There is also a chance to win works of art by playing fairground attractions.

“I felt the spirit of Christmas was being lost,” Banksy said. “It was becoming increasingly un-commercialized and more and more.”

Although one would assume this Banksy’s attempt to rip off his clients for a quick buck, the Santa’s Ghetto project may actually do some good; the gallery will be open for 23 days, offering affordable art to consumers.

I was there on Saturday and it's really quite impressive in there, there's stuff by quite a few good artists including Pete Fowler, who did all the Super Furry Animals artwork. You can even try win a Banksy screen print by throwing a hoop over the virgin Mary. Well worth a visit smile

Wow!

Never thought Banksy would fail me, dang.

I totally don't get this quote either, "I felt the spirit of Christmas was being lost," Banksy said. "It was becoming increasingly un-commercialized and more and more."

So he wants Christmas to be more commercialized?!

I hate to say it, but soon Banksy'll be able use himself.

I think Jeff Banks' career has taken an upward turn since his days on The Clothes Show and advertising Persil, good for him.

I went in today and so very nearly bought lots of things. I'm now going back tomorrow to buy gifts for friends.

There was a queue to get in and they had bouncers too. I thought that was quite amusing.

I realised that the majority of the art on the walls are actually on a website called

http://www.picturesonwalls.com/

so anyone that can't get to it can still buy things, mail order style.
