Steve-O Diagnosed with Life-Threatening Illness

While guest-hosting radio show Loveline this week, “Jackass” and “Wildboyz” star Steve-O admitted he is suffering from a life-threatening cardiac condition called cardiomyopathy.

"In no uncertain terms, the doctor looked at me with a really creepy look on his face and he said, 'you have the heart of a 90 year old man'. He said, 'if it doesn't correct itself, you will not live to the age of 40.' "

The American Heart Association stated cardiomyopathy is “a serious disease in which the heart muscle becomes inflamed and doesn't work as well as it should. “ Sufferers may experience arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death.

Loveline doc Drew Pinsky added Steve-O’s treatments may include a heart transplant or getting an electrical defibrillator implanted.

Steve-O’s reps declined comment on his condition, but I’m sure we can anticipate several more years of Steve-O stapling his scrotum to his leg.

So what sort of crazy shit are the pallbearers going to do? They should start planning that now.

I suggest throwing his coffin and body into a wood-chipper in front of his horrified family. Or taking a crap in the casket if he has a viewing.

My theory is that his heart is so messed up because of possible cocaine abuse.

Damn, and I was only hoping that he would put staples through his nuts and become sterile.

If he used his first Jackass paychecks to get those nice, pearly white teeth, I don't see any problem w/him getting a transplant or other medical solution.

I wish him the best. Wildboyz is one of the funniest (and oddly, also very educational) shows on TV.

Did he ever expect to live past 40 before he was diagnosed?

I wonder if he will get any crazier or if he has any money to have a transplant?

You don't actually get better from cardiomyopathy. You just cross your fingers and hope it doesn't get any worse. One of my closest friends has it. It killed her dad at 26. She's 30 now and on some medications that are supposed to slow the progression, but she is having fatigue problems. You just take your meds, live your life, and hope nothing changes. But all the while you know that eventually something *will* change.

I wonder how long he's known. It would explain a lot about the way he lives his life.

spot on.

but then again, his stunts put way too much strain on his heart, shortening his life even further... and getting a donor heart with his track history of bad treatment to his body makes him an unlikely candidate frown

Doctor: Well Timmy, I know you were excited about being able to one day play baseball and live a normal life outside of your iron lung, but you see, theres a very famous and popular TV icon that needs a heart just like you do. You see Timmy, while you're at the very dawn of life and waiting to live a normal existance along with all the other boys and girls your age, we just can't bear to deprive the public of a familiar face. If famous people can die, well, what kind of world would that be? I'll give your parents the number to a few local news networks and a chop shop in Singapore I know about. Maybe things will work out. Be brave Timmy.
