Burton and Depp, the dark dynamic duo, team up again.
Tim Burton has been enlisted to direct “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” the second live-action adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic children's novel. The director certainly seems a natural for the film. His strongest efforts, from "Batman" to "Beetlejuice", "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" and "Edward Scissorhands", came when he was allowed to conjure up a visually distinctive world revolving around the off beat. The story offers plenty of room for Burtonesque creativity.
Johnny Depp who has worked previously with Burton in other features has been recruited for the movie.
"I love working with him," Burton said. "I've worked with him three times. He's my friend. [He] always surprises [me]."
The latest news on the project has included that Danny Elfman , another multi-film collaborator with Burton, will compose music for the film and John August has signed on to write the movie script. John August will replace 3 other writers who were originally on this project. John had just recently worked with Burton on the film Big Fish.
