Memory Madness

Two for the price of one:

First, SanDisk has announced a new, low-cost series of flash cards aimed specifically at digital photographers. These new cards come with an added bonus: Every one of ‘em is about half the price of their previous cards. So far they’ve introduced a 32MB card for $15, with more to come. According to this article, they’ll be sold through food and drug retailers, like Rite Aid and Kroger grocery stores. (Fred Meyer, Fry’s, etc.)

And second on the memory roundup, 8GB CompactFlash II cards are here thanks to SimpleTech. The new line of cards, called “ProX,” have increased storage space due to a patented stacking technology, and will sport 8GB Type II cards as well as 2, 4, and 5GB Type I cards.

The day I need 8GB of storage on my digital camera is the day I need more than 640K of memory for my desktop. ;)
