Here's your wacko story of the week:
A woman who had her 13-year-old daughter's genitalia pierced to make it uncomfortable for her to have sex was acquitted of aggravated child abuse on Thursday.
....
A jury deliberated for about three hours before deciding the mother's actions didn't involve punishment or malicious intent, or cause permanent damage or disfigurement.
Whaaaaaaa? It's neither punishment nor malicious intent to pierce someone's genitals against their will in order to prevent them having sex? Since, like, fucking when?

It gets even better, though.
Prosecutors said the mother called on a friend to shave the girl's head and do the piercing after realizing that she had been having sex, including with the mother's boyfriend.
Definitely not punishment or maliciousness there, no siree bob. Shaving your daughter's head and piercing her pussy because she had sex with your boyfriend

Sooooo.... your creep of an asshole boyfriend is fucking your thirteen-year old daughter and you shave the girl's head and pierce her genitals. Instead of, oh, maybe calling the cops on the boyfriend.

And the thing is, this isn't just one crazy-ass woman we're talking about with, let us say, "issues" about her daughter's sexuality. An entire jury decided this shit was okay.

On the other hand, the piercer got a year of jail time, and there's a warrant out for the boyfriend's arrest.

So I guess it's just the fact that this woman was a mother, and therefore trying to "protect" her daughter, that makes it okay. That's the daughter, by the way, who used the word "protect." Poor goddamn girl.

I mean, okay. Let's assume that, in some fucked-up way, the mother really did think she was trying to "protect" her daughter by punishing her for being raped by mom's boyfriend, and that genital piercing and a shaved head were the way to go. God knows there are people in the world who are that fucked up; clearly that's what the jury thought, anyway.

Even so, man. That shit is definitely child abuse. I don't know if sending mommy to jail would help or hurt the kid more at this point (she has a guardian who is apparently not the mother), but for fuck's sake, get these people some therapy.

And someone, please, smack some sense into those jurors.
