Twenty-Nine Thousand Children Died Yesterday. World Yawns.

Twenty-nine thousand children died yesterday. They didn’t die in a tsunami or earthquake or war. You didn’t read about it in the paper today. You won’t read about it in the paper tomorrow when 29,000 more children die.
They’ll just keep dying, day in and day out, until we do something about it. And there is something we can do about it. You see, these kids are dying from preventable diseases like malaria, measles and diarrhea.
Preventable means that they can be prevented—by bed-nets, immunizations, antibiotics, and clean water. By you and by me. By taking action right now. There’s currently a petition being signed that urges the 110th Congress to:
“…make saving children’s lives a priority, and to dramatically expand U.S. child survival and health programs.”
The United States is the most powerful country in the world. I’d like to see that power used to save lives. If you feel the same way, please sign this petition.
