Sonic Youth's Destroyed Room

Last week, we announced Sonic Youth's forthcoming B-sides and rarities collection entitled The Destroyed Room: B-Sides and Rarities. The disc is to be released on Geffen December 12th. This will be the last in their contract with Geffen. There is much speculation that the band will not be re-signing with the label, which seems all but confirmed when bassist Kim Gordon talked with Billboard:

"I don't really think they want us to stay. They fired a few key people working on [the band's 2006 album 'Rather Ripped'] a week before it came out. Our A&R person -- he worked on our last record with us, and that was the first time we had an A&R person in five years, but we liked him. Also a marketing person who had really good ideas. So, I don't know."

Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley are responsible for the selections and sequencing of the rarities disc. Here is the track list. A single disc affair, the majority of the 12 tracks is from this decade, along with some stragglers from the early and mid 90s.
