Arctic Monkeys Start Work on New Album
Apparently, before the Arctic Monkeys had even won the Mercury award they had begun work on their new album. Rehearsals began last week for the quartet, and there's nothing but optimism right now.
Drummer Matt Helders spoke about the new album:
It’s shaping up good. We started messing about with the new songs last Friday in our rehearsal room. We can’t wait to get on with recording them. There’s no pressure on us, no worries about that. We just can’t wait to get going properly on them.
Alex Turner also talked about the band's progression:
We have learned a lot as musicians, but we haven’t started taking cocaine or owt like that. We could say ‘we’ve moved on’ but every band thinks that. There’s a few themes, but I need to organise it. The first album was very organised. By writing a few songs, I manage to piece the idea where everything runs together and it becomes one story.
What the fuck is owt? Maybe that's a typo.
As for the £20K the band pocketed for winning the Mercury, their website reveals that the band plans to donate the winnings to "a worthy charity which [they] would prefer to keep private." We all know what kinda charity that is.
