...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Deadlines

Much to Interscope's chagrin, emo/rock darlings ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of the Dead don't really do deadlines. Last album, World's Apart missed the 2004 fall season, hitting stores after Christmas. The band explains that this complication was due to label improprieties. For their next album, ...And You has this to say about the new delays, a website that the official website considers bombass:

After several months of bickering, delays, and label politicking, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead have finally set a release date for their third full-length album with Interscope Records: October 6th, 2006. The newly finalized release date comes exactly four months to the day after the originally planned date of June 6th. It is apparent that the band themselves pushed the label to set a release date for sometime in the fall, with the label stubbornly trying to hold out indefinitely.

I don't know how the label planned to hold out for a deadline indefinitely, but apparently that sort of strategy didn't help, and the band took advantage of that lack of foresight.

The band is currently holed up in a LA studio working on the final mixes for the new album. Pushing themselves to madness the band has their hopes and eyes set on an October 6th calendar date for the new album. Jason Reece talked to his website's favorite website letting them know that to bring the rawk he called the doctor. It's official that Dr. Dre is in and helping the band with the final mixes. Jason Reece:

We've had Dre with us in the studio for the past week or so," Reece explains, "He's been giving us new beats to lay over the drum tracks. They sound louder and thicker. It's really working out well. He's been the shizz for so long, we just felt we needed him to give us that last something to make the record a hit. I've been calling him forever [since they signed with Interscope] and he finally cracked and said he'd work with us. I'm hoping he helps me out with my rap projects in the future. Fo' sho'.

Hopefully these rap projects won't cause further delays for ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of the Dead.
