Endodontic Blues

I have to go get a root canal, and I'm freaked out. Does anyone have any root canal stories to tell me? Anyone tried Waterlase? Any advice for finding a good endodontist? Please say something to make me feel better. frown

I had to get a root canal this summer and I was absolutely shitting my pants. I hate dentists and would rather go to the gyno.

However, I hated going to the dentist because my previous dentist was a fucking quack. He hurt me more than anything, and always made my mouth worse off so I'd have to keep going in and paying him more fucking money. I finally looked for another dentist, and this man is amazing.

He did such a good job with my root canal, it didn't even hurt. I just had to take a few tylenol and that was it. It depends on how bad they have to dig decay out and how good your dentist is.

I've never heard of waterlase, but it does sound cool. I hate getting stuck with needles, that's one of my main hates about the dentist. One time I opted to have a filling with no shots or anything.... never again. I almost fucking died.

But really, root canals are not so bad at ALL. And I'm fucking petrified of dentists. The only gross part is when they fill the canal up with rubber and they have to burn part of it, smoke comes out of your mouth and it's pretty stinky. Actually, it was kinda cool.

Hope all goes well ♥ kiss

The smiling children on the front of the Waterlase site sure make it look convincing... Haha.

I have no experience with Waterlase, but can say that all of the oral surgery that I have had has always been FAR less painful than what I expected.

I would look into it if it makes you feel more comfortable.

Good luck!

If you're really freaked out, I know they have dentists that can completely put you under for the dental procedure.

There's an experienced anethesiologist on staff and they put you under, they then do their work, and you wake up from your nap.

I hate dentists - but I love me my fudge.
But rigt before my grad I went to the dentist for a check up, had to have a chipped tooth fixed and a root canal, and opted to go under. They even did a cleaning while I was sleeping smile

I was very scared when I went to get mine. So scared that I asked if he could just yank the tooth out.

I liked how afterwards I felt like somebody punched me in the face. Also how I could pinch my right cheek and lip and not feel a damn thing.I also liked how I had more pop on my shirt then in my mouth.

I would do it again just for the funny numbness.
