Well, I prefer men who are more closely pigeonholed to myself. I have dated and was married to Mr. Normal 9-5 looking guy, but it kind of was frustrating to me. I could never dress up as much as I wanted to because we looked horribly mismatched. When I date a man as goth as I am, we just look better together. And we often really have more in common. The most important thing for me though is a man's mind. If he is stimulating and intelligent that means WAY more to me than what he looks like. That aside if I met a Mr. Smart Funny wonderful 9-5, I would love him for that, but I would long for him to dress in a manner that complemented my look, at least when we go out.

A friend of mine coined a phrase "Gothophile" - A man who is not goth at all but has a thing for goth women. We kind of can recognize the type. Doesn't mean we don't go out with them though.

I always end up dating "normal" looking guys for some reason, although I'm pretty normal looking myself too, even if I don't feel that way. It's more about the connection than the image. I agree with Wren, that if you're a good guy you have a chance with anyone. If those are the kind of girls you're attracted to, then chances are you have a personality that might suit them, and it would probably work out just fine. But don't go changing your image or anything just because you think it will get you girls. Then you will just be dishonest and they really won't want you

If you go over to a goth girl and tell her how fabulous you feel about her, even in a goth club, then yes, generally she will feel rather suspicious in the same way as a chav girl might feel a tad worried were Danny Filth to come over and remark on her general attractiveness.

Okay, so I don't think the girls you're into look like Danny Filth, nor do I believe for a second you're a tracky bottoms in socks chav.

Most people, however, are into people who share their interests, this often means musical genres, dress tastes, etc. Nobody wants to go out with something they have nothing in common with.

Your best bet if you're really into girls who are goth/punk/metal, is to go where they hang out and adopt at least a little of what they might be attracted to. Go over to them, start talking, let people KNOW what you're up to. Because frankly a lot of what you're looking for are just looking for each other. So you have to make yourself VERY known.

if i'm attracted to someone, it's THEM, not the tattoos or piercings or clothes. which is not to say that someone can't make themselves more or less attractive with those accoutrements, but if you're some hot 9-5er who's intelligent and funny and all, i don't see why you wouldn't have a chance.

These days the boys I'm most attracted to, are the ones with only one or two tattoos, with scruffy blonde hair, and deep eyes...

maybe i'm just sick of getting screwed over by the drunk punks...

though, i suppose i pick who i like based moreso on who they are, then how they choose to adorn their bodies.

I think it's great when couples look different. When I see a goth couple (I'm using goth because you mentioned it), I always have to ask myself if they're together because they look "together" or because they really like each other.

Well, my bf doesnt have any tatoo, neither piercing, he doesnt like pot, he doesnt like my bands, but he loves me and I love him and he´s the 9-5 kinda guy... hes insane, of course, but he carries his insanety under his skin... and we are a perfect couple.

renew your membership to SG and enjoy. i've hung out with mr. normal guy and it just made me feel....weird. not interested. i hung out with mr. normal guy that has a lot of tattoos and still not interested. maybe that means it doesnt matter what you look like, but if you are interesting, have anything good to say and have a really big dick.
