What To Do When Someone Dies

MONDAY JULY 25 2005 7:22 AM

Submitted by RANDOM FUCKBAG. Edited By Synnove.

My uncle died in a horrible car accident in December. He was 28. He left behind a wife, who was expecting twin boys in January, and a daughter.

Now, for the problem. His wife had a severe drug problem many times during their short marriage, but he always stuck by her and took very good care of his family. But since he's died, we all think, and pretty much know, she's using again. We fear that if we do anything about it, it might just turn around and slap us in the face. We don't want to do anything that will cause us to never see the boys or our sweet little girl again.

Should we get involved or should we wait? I just don't know anymore, but all I want is to know that they are all safe.

Help!

if she has kids, then the issue isn't whether or not your family will see her kids again, but whether SHE will ever see her kids again. if she's using, she's not in a position to be able to take care of her kids. not to mention the fact that if she's pregnant and intends to give birth to those twins, she's endangering their lives.

your entire family should stick together and confront her. tell her you're all there to help and support her, and point out the fact that she's hurting her kids with her drug problem. if she wants the help, awesome. if she doesn't, too fucking bad, cos there are other people's well being at stake besides her own. if she doesn't want to cooperate, for the sake of her kids your family needs to report her drug problem. that way her daughter will be well taken care of by someone in your family while she gets clean, and you may save her unborn twins from developmental problems after they're born. even if she doesn't realize it, she needs help. give it to her.

Agreeing with everyone- you have a moral obligation to help those kids (both the born and not-yet-born)

Express sincere concern for the mother and children in question. Don't worry so much about YOUR stake in this difficult time, worry about them... If you choose to address this issue with the woman in question, acknowledge that she must be having a difficult time with the passing of her husband. Let her know that you care about her, and the children, and that you are there for them if there is anything that you can do. Mention that you've noticed some changes recently, and were wondering if there was anything you could do to help. Focus on her.
