The Basics:
Your dad beat you when you where ten, you got raped when you were fifteen, your parents died in a terrible motor accident. Your education sucks. Your sex is bad because you have a small dick or an under-sensitive clit. No one really gives a shit. No one did back when you were eighteen, no one does now. I am sorry to hear about your emotional tragedies, but the story is old and no one really likes hearing about your problems. They are what make you, but they are not who you are. What we want to hear and know about are the challenges you are facing now. Do not question other people's motives, think about yourself instead. Be real, get real and look forward or remain the emotional and intellectual equivalent of an overly mature twelve year old. Ask yourself why you react the way you do. If it is because of some past event resurfacing that does not directly relate to what is currently happening, then you better start rethinking how you behave.
Get over the fact that your uncle touched you dirty, because as soon as you round the corner you'll be facing miscarriages and cancer and divorce. If you are not ready, you will remain an emotional basket case for the rest of your life, while feeding your fifteen cats and sitting on park benches yelling as passing kids. Oh, so you run a cat shelter? If that is how you lie to yourself then fine. Oh, that park bench is wifi enabled? Fuck off.
Yes, I am trying to shock you. I'm trying to shock you into looking positively at what life can offer, not dwelling on the past, but giving life and people the full opportunities they deserve. Be upset for ten minutes or have a bad day, and get over it quickly. Get up, burn some calories, go for a walk, and talk to your friend sitting right next to you that has been waiting for you to pay them some attention. The next challenge is rounding the corner faster then you expect. Live every spare moment in a positive light and you just may be more ready, and successful, then you thought you could be.

On a lighter note: I was at the girls' house last night. We were arguing about what is the best love song ever. My vote: Gigantic by The Pixies. What do you say? (If you even dare mention Poison, I will track you down personally and slap you with a double-ended dildo).

and that song is the jam!!!!! As a freshmen in college I used to drive around my hometown during winter and summer break to that song bc it seemed so surreal to me. now I need to go dig out that cd.
