It’s interesting to see how people, treat others in everyday situations. In these example, it’s about the workplace, and something I have seen twice in the last two days.

The last two days on my lunch break, it’s been a Arby’s thing. As of yesterday the place in TD hired someone, who is, mentally handicapped. (I can’t remember a more proper term, sorry in advance.) Both times this person, who from what I can tell is a nice guy, basically gets ‘ignored’ by his co-workers. Peter, (as I will name this person), doesn’t realize it, but keeps talking, asking, being nice to these people. What does he get for his kindness? Backsides.

Meh.

So today, when I was there, he said hello to me, I said hello back. Before I left I made sure to say goodbye, and have a nice day.

Why?

Do unto others, as you would unto yourself.

It just doesn’t make sense to me, how you can work with someone, and ignore them. I’m sure they could teach a lot to this guy, and make a difference in his life, but instead, the mock him with silence.

Meh. I don’t think I have explained this enough, or written enough on it.

Basicaly, how I feel on it, is that “Peter” is being treated unfair, and that it’s more saddening because I don’t think he notices it at all.

*sigh*

Somedays, people piss me off.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Fortunately, I have seen some really nice interactions at the local fast food places between the coworkers and the token mentally handicapped employee. It's more about the customers reactions to them. That makes me want to be a violent girl. However, I hold back and just say something to make them feel like shit before leaving. Something to make sure they don't enjoy their food as much. mad

It's strange...in a way, I agree with you about being saddened by the fact that "Peter" doesn't notice. But another part of me is glad he doesn't. frown

Ja, it upset me alot in my own way seeing that.

It's a sad world we live in today, when people can't just be people.
