the night prior I'd hardly gotten any sleep, so was quite exhausted when finally coming home from an 11hr day - to a phone call that my girls were en route...
they gave me a hilarious card, cool gift, and then (with their mothre's assistance) took me out to eat... and they were fairly good while out as well :)
so my lovely spawnlings made my b'day a nice one for a change *grins* ... love my li'l darlin's :)
called my fathre after work today, since it's his 70th b'day tomorrow (and to hopefully keep conversation going without another 8month lapse between calls like last October-to-Fathre's Day was).
other than some personal stress/familial issue bringin' him down and not being at his peak physically, it was still a good conversation
aye, we hadn't gotten along for most of our years, but we've both changed and grown since and I honestly wish I lived closer so I could spend some time with him
...at least I can be a sounding board for the issues he's facing, so there's that.
otherwise, as usual and already mentioned sort-of, the beginning of the month "madness" is nearly over - a few issues to resolve Monday, then into the mid-month "norm" and other issues pending resolution
it's still weird sometimes to think not only how long I've been working for this company, but that the work I'm doing are things I never thought I'd be doing (let alone had a "knack" for)
...and I don't mind it a'tall - aye, there's stressful moments once in a while, but what good business doesn't have busy/crazy/stressful times?
as long as work continues and there's work to be done, I'm all for it. I'd rather be busy than bored any day!
and, besides, I haven't won that lottery yet ;)
and I even survived what is usually the hellish week of every year (the 2nd, anniversary of my sister's death, to the 9th, my b'day and reminder of her funeral and what she meant to my life)
the aforementioned out-and-about with the girls helped a lot... and the fact that it's been 14yrs and Life is about Living and continuing on - after all this time, no tears (at least, on my end), just remembrance
and I'm glad for that - the relatives who still live in the past and focus on the loss are ones I can do without their drama, honestly.
as I mentioned in the twits last posting, they're the ones who will never have the chance to truly Live - which, from the last conversation I had with my sister, I know is what she would want, if not demand.
and the memories I have are wonderful ones, so I do not dwell in the past and continue to Live Life and enjoy as we are meant to do.
as for the weekend - I've got the girls... and, since the ex is willing to take us somewhere, the girls (finally) decided on Cheap Skate.
I'm not familiar (other than knowing it's a skate park or something of the like), but they were excited, to say the least.
so - until next posting, my lovelies and gentlefolk - Life is about Living... enjoy the hells out of it, you have my permission ;)
...and here's the girls' card to me - and their very cool gift!
another week of twits and rants ::
7/5 :
"when I was out last night, there were tits everywhere"
uhm... what?
"tits, wood tits, y'know, those bugs"
you mean TICKS, right?
"no, blood-sucking wood tits"
yeh, you mean ticks.
"I KNOW they're called tits!"
and I know you're wrong.
7/6 :
ah, nothing like a lungful of burning, "melty" thick air...
supposedly from the canadian wildfires, but a wildfire that smells... "melty?"
7/6 II :
yes, it is true, I could've shaved this evenin'... but I also could've gone bungee-jumping off the deck or wore a push-up bra - I did none.
7/7 :
asphalt work is only 1/4 done... hilarious seeing people trying to find spots (or get past cones/workers), the street's only so long (heh)
7/8 :
AM news : churches nationwide requesting security from state and local
is this REALLY where we want our officers and tax dollars going?? :(
7/8 II :
what's it like being colourblind?
well, you wouldn't want me wiring your stereo or defusing a bomb, that's for certain, otherwise I"m cool.
7/9 :
perfectly timed call as I get in the door (2nd time this week) - girls are en route and this exhausted, tired fellow is going out to eat :)
7/10 :
//rant//
why, when religious extremism is running rampant worldwide, is everyone focusing upon only ONE faction of religious radicalism?
in the middle east : islamic extremism/radicalism... why are we vilifying only IS and this particular religion when there's also :
in CAR & neighbouring african nations : xtian extremism/radicalism... xtian youth, with gov'mt support, are slaughtering non-xtians - women and children, too! - with friggin' MACHETES! where's the media outcry on THIS ongoing atrocity?!
in Myanmar/Burma & nearby asia : Buddhist extermism/radicalism - YES, Buddhist - where marauding Buddhists are attacking non-Buddhist, including women and children...! where's the outcry and abbhorance on these groups?!
STOP FOCUSING ON ONE RELIGIOUS EXTREMIST GROUP (*coughs*IS*coughs*) GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES AND PAY ATTENTION - something VERY bad is happening with religion WORLD-friggin'-WIDE and you're only seeing the ONE as "bad?"
you are NOT helping anyone or anything by ignoring the rest...
*growls*

unusualist - I have yet to find a religion and/or spirituality that fits my own personal beliefs... other than, of course, the fact I am a (fallen) god.
