So, I've been in Japan now for about ......... Well, two weeks on tuesday. Wow, is that all? It seems like so much longer.... I've been so busy, I guess. Not routine to fall into yet...
Im living in Amagasaki, which is in Hyogo right where it borders Osaka. In fact, Osaka Station is only 20 minutes from where I'm staying. Cool, ne? My host family is really chill. The shimamura's have hosted a number of students, so they know what to expect, and have been really cool about explaining everything, multiple times sometimes, or at least until I get it. No really funny stories about that. Well, one but you had to be there. I made my host father explode.
The Shimamura's are Hideo and Yuko, and thier children Hiroyuki and Minako. Minako speaks excellent english, and better french than me. But she studied in france, so thats not so suprising. Other than that, no one is really fluent in english. Hiroyuki knows a bit, and Hideo tries, ("You... Eat... Eat... You... Food... Eat...) where as Yuko simply talks in Japanese. Not suprisingly, its usually easier to understand her than Hideo, who mixes his languages so much it can be unintellgible.
Im attending Japanese classes at Konan University, which is in Okamoto, Kobe. So far the classes arent to hard, which is good. I dont want to have to work to hard. Clubs start on wednsday, so I'll update again then. I'll be trying the Nihon Kempo club. they did a little demonstration at the orientation, and it looked like fun if a little heavy on the protective gear side.... Anyway, bed time for me. Jaa ne.
