Ugh...in a funk. Not a fun or funky funk but bad mood, stuck in a rut - a lump in the throat. Difficulty at work with keeping my head above water, drowning in a sea of paperwork with no end in sight. A lot of it has been being asked to produce 8-12 hours of deskwork a week out of a three-hour session abbreviated with meetings all day. Dunno... I like what I do for a living, care for who I help and believe in the agency I work under but recently, things haven't added up. It leaves me scratching my head, insecure in my future and my ability to hold shit together sometimes. Meep. blackeyed

In other ponderings, I believe I am going to enroll in the culinary school I've been in orbit around for the past 6-9 months. My supervisor recently inquired what it would take for me to receive my Bachelor's. The answer is basically starting from scratch, as nearly all credits from my former music school was non-transferable. I'd rather not apply myself to something barely half-heartedly for the sake of an inprobable promotion. I'd much rather plow into something that I already think about day in, day out - cooking. wink biggrin

Tuesday turned out to be an awesome day off. Worthy of writing about it on Wednesday but, sometimes I'm lazy like that. tongue I received a buzz from the ever-greyed AmazonRed13 aiming to talk up watching House of Flying Daggers, helping to purchase a laptop and what other plans I had for the afternoon. It turns out The Shins were playing Yale's Old Campus in connection to their Spring Fling event. ElmCityDrunk had been in the loop but sadly had to miss due to a unorganized friend favor. AR13 and I arrived within the first few minutes of the set and congratulated each other in not looking like any of the freshman class we seemed to be surrounded by.

On our way out, we stumbled across a couple of townie acquaintances who had intel to spill... Namely that Hot Rod Circuit was going to be playing an un-advertised acoustic gig that evening at Cafe Nine. Phones were flipped open, plans were made and ECD was happily brought back into the musical fold. Preshow I was able to catch up w/ Casey, their normally jackrabbit jumping lead guitarist - you gotta like a guy who hops around so much he puts his head through acoustic tiling. biggrin He and AlienPrincess used to sling coffee together and I'd always talk lap steel guitar while waiting for AP to clock out. Like always, fantastic show made that much more poignant as it was Jay Russell's last gig with the band. confused Strange unexpected news.

What else...14 hour day tomorrow followed by cleaning and some sort of US census questionaire to be filled out on Saturday. An additional 14 hour day on Sunday and hopefully the odd beer or two w/ ECD can be scheduled somewhere in there.

Hey. I was at the Shins show too- pretty excellent as far as free concerts go. Was it just me or was the band subtly poking fun at Yale students throughout the course of the concert?

Ah yes the oh so lovely task of shocing ten pounds of shit into a 5 pound sack.
Sounds like a good couple of shows however. the Syracuse show scene is not so good.

If you go to cooking school you will have my envy for sure, I would love to do that at some point.

Thanks!

Ooh, good luck getting out of your rut. I think culinary school would be a great way to do it!
