So as you can tell, I was a bit annoyed.
After getting home this morning around 2:30, I started to stoke the fireplace and throw some more wood on it so that the house would stay warm 'til later this morning and into the day. And lemme dispel any thoughts that this might be leading to a story of getting burned, 'cause it's not; although, that has happened on more than a handful of occasions. What did happen, though, is that somehow, w/o even rubbing my sleeve on my face, I got something lodged between my eye and my eyelid. After what seemed like a small eternity of rubbing my eye with the insides of my sleeve -- as they would undoubtedly be clean of dirt and/or wood -- and my arm, plenty of blinking and flushing it out w/ one of those bulbous instruments that suck up water, I was still in a firestorm of annoyance.
I take my eyes and my vision pretty seriously and am really cautious with them. I've had 20/20 or better vision since I was a kid and I intend on keeping it that way as long as possible. Not to mention that eyes are a central part of keeping the rest of our body healthy. So when I get something stuck in them that is not only annoying, but slightly painful, I get as close to having an anxiety/panic attack w/o fully freaking out. Think the Credible Hulk.
So after all this trying to get whatever it was out, including pulling my eyelid up and rubbing the inside with a finger (at this point I could see the little bastard), I get the brilliant idea to take a cotton swab, get it wet and rub the inside.
It worked!! The li'l fucker -- which I'm still unsure of what it was between dirt and wood, but don't really care as long as it's out of my eye -- was about half the size of a flea, but had the figurative bite of what seemed like a hornet.
Today finds me in a much better mood, though, 'cause the Winter Olympics are on :-) And to me, that means it's time for hockey and, my fav Olympic sport...curling!!
Questions for all of you. What painful and/or annoying things that happen to your body (other than PMS, 'cause we all know how that affects you and your moods) just drive you to the point of breaking and going Hulk-mode all over everything in reach? And what excites you about the Winter Olympics -- be it a sport, the opening/closing ceremonies or anything?
