Just as I turned on my vehicle the other day, the engine pointed out something to me...

Grrrr. Mostly tired and sluggish lately and it's getting harder and harder to break free from this funk.
And speaking of funk...
Like I needed a reason to get funky.
Anyhow, it's friggin' hot in this city. Tried to get out this morning for a walk and maybe snap some pics of mother nature herself and it wasn't to be. I got gassed quickly and I came back home and slept for a couple of hours. If only we could A/C the world.
Wouldn't it be nice?

So here it is. 2am and I'm still awake.
Sometimes I wonder what my girlfriend dreams of when she sleeps. On days like this one, I'd almost bet she was taking kickboxing classes in her dreams.
I might have to consider wearing a cup to bed tomorrow.

Today seemed as good of a day as any to start drinking on the job.
A bottle of Coca Cola. A little bit of Crown Royal Black. And the edge was off.
Though it didn't take long for the buzz to wear off and the relaxation dissipated when I realized I just had too much on my plate to really enjoy it.
Bah.
May try again tomorrow.
Aaaaand... a little song as tribute to the drinking gods.

In the magnificent words of a friend...
"It's Sunday, damnit. I'm not putting on pants unless I have to."

A short-lived but fun trip to Austin, TX this weekend where I was supposed to meet up with an internet friend. Unfortunately, the meeting never occurred but there were still some fun moments in-between the whole being sick part and finally coming back home, nevermind the fact that the girlfriend got derailed by work stuff on and off both yesterday and today... blahbidy blah blah..
The fun stuff in brief from the weekend:
- A lovely young waitress at Kerbey Lane Cafe with beautiful eyes and very expressive eyebrows.
- The frumpy young hostess at the same cafe who likely learned how to walk from her grandmother.
- Got some morning muffin...

- A conversation about things my g/f will use to dispatch of creepy crawlers. Only last week did she grab the first thing at her disposal when she saw a bug in the sink: canola cooking spray. Because you know if you can't kill the bug, you might as well keep it from getting anywhere as its little bug feet spin in place.
- $3 haircuts and not being able to get your money back if they're bad.
- Food from the Caribbean will make you live longer. The g/f's grandmother lived to 105 and the lovely woman at the Clinique counter at Dillard's (who herself was from Trinidad) agreed that I should have more callaloo, though I'd happily live off of beef patties, curry goat and rice & peas.
- My guilty pleasure, i.e. song that makes me dance and sing while riding in the car...
But shh, don't tell anyone. If they should ever ask, I listen to tough guys and metal stuffs like this...
Anyhoo... we made the best of the day and a half we had, and now it's back to the daily grind tomorrow. Boo. I know. I'll make the best of that too.
A late note: I did manage to use the word 'snooter' this weekend as well. Quite proud of myself to work that into a conversation.

Seems like even taking a sick day from work, I STILL have to check in with them on the daily. Two phone calls and an email. Jeez. I think it's fair to say they'd be lost without me on some of their larger projects.
That being said, I've been sleeping in patches all day. In between getting winks, the stomach has been calling out for food. I must say that I have to thank the girlfriend for keeping the refrigerator well stocked with stuff I can just heat up and eat without having to go through the whole cooking process. I'm spoiled and I know this.
And just before carrying my weight by doing some laundry, I get up from my desk and turn to walk out when I catch the hem of my pajama pants with my other foot, nearly busting my rump in the process.
Gotta know how to laugh at yourself, right?
Leaving you with a little ditty from my boys, the Keys...

Middle of the week and I'm pooped. Gassed. Tired. Spent.
Dealing with people in an uncooperative work environment has gotten to be tedious, to say the least... but things are looking up. I have a job interview/tour tomorrow morning for a position that would be a completely different career than from what I have been doing for the last 13 or so years. It's both exciting and nerve racking. I do hope it goes well and I have thoughts whirling around in my head of the new possibilities if this company decides to take me on as a new trainee for a specialized position.
Wish me luck.
And on that note...
A song I like and that has no other pertinence to the contents of this blog...

Ooh, don't look now... but it's Saturday.
The end of what feels like a very long week. Long and completely exhausting. Seems I'm so worn out lately that the only action my girlfriend gets is while I'm asleep.
Her: "Did you sleep well last night?"
Me: "I think so."
Her: "Oh... you were grabbing me in your sleep. All touchy feely. I had to check if you were awake or if you were still sleeping."
Me: "I was groping you, huh? Then I slept well for sure."
And now that it's the weekend, a bit of rest is in order. We didn't get to celebrate my birthday on Tuesday so I chose to defer any celebration until today. Some good food, a few drinks and a few friends coming over this evening. Relaxation: welcome.
