I just busted out those cassettes and was very pleased that one of them contained Ryan bootlegs as well. One of them has an amazing, stripped down "Rescue Blues" that is really slow and set only to piano. It makes it an entirely different song and much better than the O.G. if you ask me.
Onlyt an asshole would've bought the book, so don't feel left out. I only paid $13, not $100, though.
I set up a lastfm (I am our_privateer) but I don't like it! I can't listen to songs more than 3 times and there's so much it doesn't have. I find it easier to do what I normally do and that's just myspacing everybody. At least I can listen to up to 4-5 songs back to back.
Oh! Starting to Hurt is SO amazing, ouch!! Definitely one of the standouts. Honestly i can't remember the last time I listened to the whole thing through but the first several are nuts.
Maybe it would help to have a guide! I'm kind of techno-tarded...seriously. For example, I have no idea what mp3s even are, don't download (scared) and don't have an ipod. I mean I was playing my cassettes tonight. So I get scared of new things I don't like, and I got mad at lastfm when it wouldn't let me play Like A Rolling Stone 40x. You'll have to help. I would like to hear a radio station like the one I love on Sirius radio. Maybe you know more about what I'm talking about.
I don't think I want to share with anybody. I like finding out about music with members here, that's fine. But I'm such a dog-jerk. I swear, I read everything you said and this is what I was thinking: "Nope. I'm going to get Sirius." I haven't visited the site ever since it wouldn't let me play my favorite Sunset Rubdown song. But there's so much they don't have, it's annoying.
Ok and here's why you're right: Gram Parsons doesn't have a myspace (or at least I can't imagine it).
I worked briefly at this place where I discovered the station on Sirius and I was astounded by how almost everything played was either a favorite current or old band, or new stuff that I instantly loved. It was crazy. I've never had anything like that, it's almost like all of your favorite actors in the same film or something. Just everything was so perfect. They only ever played one shitty song per day, and it was always Be Your Own Pet. So that's the simple story-I was just in love with everything.
Next time when it's not so late, you'll explain more perks/differences of your lastfm.
What's the story with the 30 second clips? I don't get it. Is that controlled by the artist, what's the deal?
It perplexes me for example, that a band as popular as Vampire Weekend have only one song available, and part 2) not even one of their hits. Making no sense! Help me.
This made me laugh, since I am obviously approaching this like an angry, penniless child in a candy store. Radio based? What does this mean? I thought it was just internet based? (see, I don't know much. Amazing that I should know so much about Sirius).
WHAT about the Black Kids??? Wait, there is an album posted? I understand what you said, that only one song is available.
Ok I just looked, about the Blacks. It looks like an ep posted. They're very confusing b/c they didn't even have any releases until just today, and it was only to the UK for the single (which I just bought). I don't know what these guys do.
Here's a funny thing. When the recommendation box comes up, it looks so hopeful, like they're giving you almost 10 suggestions. But for some, I've never heard of ANY of these bands. Now with my boyfriend Sirius, I became familiar with a lot of current stuff. It confuses me that I don't know no damn names.
Edit: I act like the idea of hearing a brand new band is a horror show. My attention span is just surprisingly low apparently. If you check my "just played"'s for a while, you'll see, I bascially listen to the same damn shit. I mean 9 days ago last thing was Whiskeytown & then you make me hop on & I immediately go for Gram Parsons, blind.
