so the grand prize for winning the photo contest was a 3 day ski(or in my case...ride)/stay package for next season and the cover of the last issue of the on-mountain weekly magazine...that don't suck.

my studio lighting/photography class was fun tonight...nice to play with the expensive toys like studio flash heads and digital light meters.

ok, i was right - there wasn't that many submissions - i won the grand prize.

well, damn.

this ends an almost perfect day:

- snowboarded at camelback on a free pass with great snow and blue skies
- went and visited my motorcycle in valley forge and got to sit on it and make "vroom vroom" sounds
- just shot the calendar girl contest at club ritual in Long Island

and come home at 4am to drink a beer and check my email...and find this.

that so rocks!

ok - so ready for the punchline from this weekend?

(already discussed this in the photo group, but i will re-tell it to the 3 people who may read this...)

i'm in maine at a snowboard gathering - shooting pictures and riding. sugarloaf (the resort we are at) is having a photo contest with prizes ranging from lift tix to 3 day stay to the cover of the local weekly on-mountain paper. on a whim, i decide to enter 4 pics (geoff, chris, group and ski patrol in the snowboard folder in pics) - just got an email from sugarloaf telling me they loved the shots and i am a finalist in the contest.

just up'd a shot from a band/product thing i did in my rock folder. that is the lovely jester from the suffering (local ny band) and steve from dirty rig (another local band and co-worker). comments are cool - i have some more sessions scheduled this weekend with acey from murderdolls (former co-worker) new band and johnny kelly from TON...hopefully i can get shots up early next week - so the 2 people who actually will read this can check them out.

back from Maine - shot 300+ pictures of snowboarding...the 16 hours of driving there and back sucked!

just up'd a set of the better ones. never done that type of shooting before - lots of fun.

off to maine to go snowboarding with a bunch of people. found out i am the official photog for this event..."you have a digital and we can show the pictures at dinner on friday" but hopefully i can sell my prints to the other riders - looking to have close to 70 riding this weekend in sugarloaf.

for the 14hr days i have been rockin' at work for the last week to cover the 2 days i'm taking off...it better be good snow and sunshine.

oh yeah - technology still sucks. but on the cool tip, one of the models i worked with on a band promo shoot likes my idea for a session (stairwell and red dress) and hopefully i can get that worked out...tattoo'd girl in a red dress on a stairwell with exposed pipes. wires and cool side lighting.

feh - technology sucks. 3 hours to replace the hard drive and install a new system in my powerbook (didn't think any machine would be harder to work on than the old 2400's...i was wrong), filemaker database being grumpy, forgetting to proof in RGB in pshop...freaking out over why everything looked washed out...

sadly, i make my living from tech..i guess it's my lot in life...wonder if there is a yahoo group for luddites?

did get to post some of the pictures from Motorbrands Night at Ritual on saturday in my pics section...still have to go thru all the shots from another photoshoot....i think it's time to drink a beer, watch family guy and go to bed...
