I'm very sad to hear this. I wish we'd had a chance to shoot again before your tenure ended, but I hope you're enjoying the change in direction. All the best to you!

I saw in the tattoo group you like the book Phantom Tollbooth. Have you ever seen the movie? I used to watch it all the time when I was little. I have yet to find someone else who has seen it and I thought I'd get lucky and maybe you have...

I have an old copy on vhs. It's not an official copy, just dubbed on there between Old Yeller and The Amazing Spiderman. smile

I didn't realize Chuck Jones did Rikki Tikki Tavi and the White Seal! Two of my favorite childhood movies.

There's a listing on Amazon for the Phantom Tollbooth dvd but it hasn't been released yet. Of course, I signed up to be notified if and when it ever does come out. Hopefully it won't be a long wait because I don't know how much longer my vhs copy will hold up. wink

Want your advice.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I am going to be buying an SLR style camera soon. I think i have grown enough that i can get put aside the point and shoot type cameras that i have, i think i have outgrown them, i want more out of a camera.

Here is the problem. I have absolutely no idea about what to buy.

What's that Steve? What do i want out of it?

Well for one, i am not that great of a photographer. So i need something that is still pretty stupid-proof. Something that can guide me with an "auto" mode, but still gives me the freedom to play around in "manual" mode. I am still ranked well below amateur status, hell i can't even see the bottom rung of the "amateur status" ladder. So i am kind of confused on what i need....

Maybe something with upgradeable lenses, detachable, so i later on when i decide i want to toy around even more than i am now, i can expand this camera a bit more before having to move to a new camera.

Something in the 3 to 4 to 5 hundred dollar range. The 3 to 4 being preferred, but if your advice is convincing enough, i would spend more.

Where do i buy these cameras at a good price? I was looking at Newegg and Tigerdirect, where i get more of my computer crapola, but my choices seem to be limited there. I then went to Dodd Camera's website (A local camera shop) and all i managed to do is confuse the ever living shit out of myself.

i was thinking of something like:

A Sony DSLR-A330L Camera and Lens Kit (DT18-55 SAM Kit Lens) for $499.00 from Dodd.

but also like This Olympus

and the there was this Nikon

I don't know, what do you think?
