newest hobby - fencing! first class is this Saturday. Pics on the way.

Had to take the dog to the Vet this morning. Ear infection, eye infection, skin infection. 5 kinds of medication. That dog costs $1000 a year, which is still less than $3 a day. We were talking at the office, and I think I should change his name to Starbuck's. Next time I am gonna get a brand new puppy, not a used dog.

Showtime's "Weeds" is getting a little shrill. reminds me of the days before I got sober. It's kind of deliciously accurate actually, it starts out with everyone looking pretty, some sad undertones (the husband died) but still a sexy fun edge to the dealing lifestyle and plenty of giggling and eating brownies. Then people start firing up on greed and danger, and in the second Season, things get edgy. By year three of my heavy partying years, I was overwrought, emotional, fragile, insecure and frayed around the edges. That's how the star of Weeds looks right now. And the other characters, too. Bravo, Hollywood. You nailed it.

life is trucking along, and I am enjoying the ride. I've got a long list of things I'd like to do and I am making my way through them... that's what life's about, I think. I could use a traveling companion, but in the absence of a permanent partner I am free to meet and greet other travelers and enjoy their stories.

Lately I have had nothing to say. So I am gonna dig deep and say something anyway.

If you are unlucky in love, are you definitely lucky at cards? Cuz if so, I should head to Vegas. I keep getting ridiculous crushes on guys who are my friends and then torturing myself with imagined romantic scenes where they confess their secret attraction for me and we live happily ever after. Here's a verbal photo montage: we meet, we become friends, we eat ice cream and laugh in the sun, we run through the rain giggling, we hike, we bike, we eat pizza and watch movies, he looks into my eyes and tells me he loves me, we get engaged, marry romantically, buy a house, have kids and enjoy an excellent retirement surrounded by grandchildren. Here's what actually happens. He tells me he does not like me that way. Now, let me ask you, if you don't like me, why did you make me dinner for the last three nights in a row? Why do you flirt and tell me I am beautiful? Are you just feeding off my crush on you.

I have learned an important lesson about guys. If they don't like me when they first meet me, they never will. I have to date the guys that want to date me. I can't make them like me. Lesson learned. More later.
