hello ether.

I've been busy most every day working with a recent timeout to visit Germany in October. Have beer for those of you who drink it smile

To stave off the winter blues I decided to buy a bike for a winter project, with the hope of getting it running for a few days before the snow flew. That didn't happen, but it did fire with a little help from a can of starter fluid, and ran for a good half minute with well timed shots of juice into the airbox.

So now to wait for parts, and tires, and learn to braze to seal off numerous little pinholes in the gas tank before de-denting, un-rusting and relining it.

Style wise it will end up some sort of bastard-child ugly with bits of cruiser, cafe racer and street fighter with a trichromo paint scheme that will feature rims colormatched with the tires and a three "color" seat. We'll see if I can get heat resistant/hi-temp paint colormatched before figuring out the rest of it.

Off to the basement to whip up another batch of stripper biggrin

Happy Holidays, all kisskiss

oh thank god.

nobody won my retirement lottery last night (forgot to buy a ticket), so now when i win on wednesday, there will be that much more to share biggrin

and yes, you are invited to the bill-burning party kiss

this is life right now: working then working some more, then fantasizing about not working. work is enjoyable, there's not a day i come home without a sense that the world is a marginally more informed, slightly more healthful, aware and lighter place to be. it's just that coming home from work every day for the last three months gets to be a bit of a grind. so yay for next weekend and memorial day mondays smile

half a year between posts is probably long enough for something interesting to happen...

so you might think. new president (elect)...gonna have to see what this guy can do with knobs like REid and Pelosi in there. my hope is that there is some HUGE payoff they negotiated with the outgoing administration for going aloing with basically Every FUcking Thing that was asked of them. Oh, and doing nothing by doing something to stop the war. Wanna end the war? Don't draft a spending bill. What's easier than doing nothing?

Alright, let's see what else is going on...
Love Life? Zilch. Crushes on several nice and exciting and intriguing and waaay cute women..One crush/fantasy wrecked by her marriage to someone who wasn't me...one fantasy girl moved to Chicago, and another who is still in town is somehow now going out with a ham-sandwich eating dweeb who is, again, not me.

Boo hoo hoo for the talisman.

In uplifting news, I'm the proud new custodian of a custom painted Vomit Boy, and by all accounts Charlatan, the big lug, survived his birthday bash.

Only 31 1/3 more days 'til my New Year...Can't wait- peace/love&out biggrin kiss biggrin

What?

You know that feeling you get hearing a recording of your own voice, where you say to yourself, or out loud, "God I sound like such a dork!"?

If only it were that harmless. The other night I was doing some twiddling with some tracks recorded last summer for a downtempo take on Baba O'Riley. Since my "studio" is really just a room with a coupla mics in it, everything either of us said or played was easily heard on the recording.

So it was with shame, embarrassment and horror that I listened to the bossy, smarmy, not-too-kind tone that is my voice. The disconnect between what I feel and how my voice comes across is really unfortunate...I remember clearly in that tracking session that I was concentrating on making sure I was working all the software and gear right so that the violinist's efforts weren't wasted, but that concentration comes across as a harsh attitude toward the performer.

Not really what I was aiming for nor intending.

yep. new job pays shite, and my hours may be getting shorted on top of it...one of these days I'll actually sit down and add things up.

on the upside, the people are fun, and it's a pretty lo-stress gig. Four days a week, not always ten hours a day, but pretty close on average.

But if anyone has any clues on where to find better pay, I'm all ears biggrin kiss biggrin

Did someone say love life? That rings a bell, but it's such a distant, faint memory...

Oh yeah. Germany was great, the kids are doing good, and FINALLY my daughter has her US passport. Although the prestige of being a US citizen has taken quite a beating these past 7 years
