Hush little child

For the dusk is upon us

The seeming safety of the sun’s rays is falling away

Hush

Can you hear her

The forest she speaks

She tosses and turns and stretches

Like a beast awakening from sleep

Hush

Can you feel her

As her breath begins to stir in the wind

Hush

Can you smell her

As the leafs that have fallen to the ground and now rot

Leaving a musk upon our nostrils

Hush

The beasts awaken

And begin their hunt

Hush

Move silent

For you little one

Are food

Hush

Be still

The fire can not save you

To bring day light into the night is a sure and foolish sign of fright

And fear is the beast’s delight

Hush

Do not be

Yet still see

Not with eye

But through the night

Hush

The darkness creeps upon you

Hush

Wear it as your skin

Hush

Go deeper and deeper within

Hush

The cats slink and prowl ever near

But HUSH

And have no fear
