As my last post went pretty much nowhere (hey, it was a song by an 80-year old Scottish humorist, really what did I expect?), I decided to post this while it was still fresh on my mind, and had not been rendered into remnants and fragments by what passes as my thought process.

Run-on sentence much?

Anyway, a definition starts this little intellectual exercise.......
icon (noun) A person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something. (often used in religion, but for this excursion such knowledge is irrelevant)

So the first question before the house (you knew there had to be a question, right?) is.....Who do you see as a SG icon, who truly exemplifies the spirit and purpose of the site as you see it?

Who do you see as a new SG icon, someone who hasn't been pink all that long, but again, someone who carries on and exemplifies what SG meant, means now, or may mean in the future.

And you ask, what of the hopefuls? I'm not asking who is most deserving (in my mind, that answer is simply all of you), but who would be best to carry the pink torch of inevitable iconography.

Really deep shit, huh? Wait, it gets better. smile

What I know about tattoos.
1. They hurt (like a motherfucker)
2. Growing up, I only saw them on guys and thought they looked creepy and kind of stupid.
3. I would never get one (yes, it's that pain thing)

But I became curious....how big a part does pain play in the process? Do you think the more it hurts the better it is? Would you even get tattooed if it were a painless process? Do you even notice the pain?

And finally, regarding SG UK Holiday....a quick summation
1. It takes a long damn time
2. It's worth it.
3. I recommend you get it, because I hear there aren't plans for a DVD or Blu-Ray (maybe that will change)

As Jerry Springer says, "Be kind to yourselves, and each other."

Get well soon, Jerry "The King" Lawler.

I'm notorious for run-ons. I love them. That and purple prose.

Anyways. Classic SG icon: Amina. New SG icon: Katherine.

I'd still get tattoos of they were painless. But, so would so many more people. Who knows. But, yeah. I guess the pain has something to do with it but I couldn't explain it.

& thanks smile

Pain is inconsequential for me. I just want the end result -- the image.

in re. tattoos, I like to describe it like my wife describes child-birth (not that the two are even remotely similar in intensity, or importance) but only that the pain is forgettable, the end result is not, and hopefully as enjoyable.

As to the icon thing: as SG seems to mean many different things to many different people, my opinion
is just that.

Regarding tattoos and pain, I think they are an integral part of it for me and are actually an attraction. If it wasn't for the pain price of admittance, a lot more people would have them for one. But for me the pain is kind of theraputic and gives the product some additional end satisfaction. I am a migraine sufferer so my pain threshold is high or I have developed coping techniques. My chest piece took like 6 sessions, and my full sleeve has been 12 sessions and counting (albiet all these sesdions have been only a few hours, max 3 hours due to the artists schedule) and I look forward to the release of the sesdion like one might look forward to a massage or chiropractor visit. Longest sessiin I had was my forearm for 6 hours and that was fine. Although I do also enjoy dental cleanings and minor dental procedures, so maybe I'm borderline masochistic. LOL I do know someone who doesn't feel it at all, and she is disappointed.
