Today I want to talk about nicknames.

Come on now, we all have them. We had them growing up, pet names, code names that only our best friends knew about in that secret language you shared.

As I put this out there, it's only fair I start with me, when with a little why thrown in:
1. Kuykendall-as in "Hey Kuykendall, fetch my bag of my own frozen feces so that I may fertilize my pot in the richest soil possible"' I was constantly referred to by last name in junior high and high school. I found it degrading and disrespectful. Call me by my first name or don't called me at all.
2. Bark- the president's secretary at a company I worked for insisted on calling me Bark. Memory lapse or speech impediment, I have no idea.
3. Marcus Welby, Dr. Welby, or the Doctor-came from a dear friend, after the television series, and seeing as my name is Mark, well, you know...but now when we e-mail back and forth, she calls me
4. Rev or The Rev- as I actually am an ordained minister (seriously). in this case, she just likes jacking with me.

My favorite is the Doctor, but seeing there is already a Doctor on SG, you can call me what you want except late for dinner.smile

Come on now, play along, join in the fun. I don't want to die alone.

Peace my childrensmile

Comixbookgurl - since I was the only girl in my high school that read them. It stuck

Spazzy - I have spaz out moments, that apparently are hilarious. Chad gave me the nickname when we worked at the bookstore. I am mainly known as Spazzy. Even people call me that at work.

Lis - Just a shorter version of my real name. The LCS Gordon really likes to call me Lis.

I have more but the explanations are crazy

I've had many nicknames over the years, but nothing ever sticks!!

Noly (childhood nickname)
Froly (the boys slightly amended the nickname when I got a perm, back in the days when everyone did)
Furnace (err...I won't get into that one)
Juice (ditto)
Nono
elleon or leon (a play on my actual name)
trouble smile

That's all I can remember right now. smile

Lizzie, Lizard. That's about it. There's not much you can do with "Liz".
My best friend used to call me "Jizzy Lizzy" when she was drunk, but I would call her "Poon June". biggrin

I'm diggin the nicknames thing!!!

well, besides the obvious "chels" for chelsea, I didint/dont have A LOT of nicknames.

[in order of when these nicknames graced my life wink]
#1. chelia- a friend randomly started calling me chelia instead of chels or chelsea because she said it sounded more exotic. Never stuck as far as people verbally calling me it, but since its so unique I am able to use it for virtually every username I have. (the "mike" in "cheliamike" comes from my middle name of "michael".)

#2. What-y- As a freshman, for some reason most of the people I hung out with were juniors and seniors. They just took to me, which was pretty advantageous beings I was pretty much untouchable as far as getting freshman hazing. Anyway, while out to eat at a restaurant one day with all my junior/senior volleyball friends we were having a nice conversation when all the sudden it fizzled out and was replaced with dead silence. To break this silence, I cut in with "haha, sometimes when people say "Chelsea" I say "what-y" and then sometimes im so used to it that when they say "chels" i still say "what-y".....*silence*.....*bursts of laughter*. until those juniors graduated highschool, what-y was my nickname.

#3. (current, as of 2004) Baby- My boyfriend has maybe called me by my real name 10 times in the 5 years weve been together. It's always BABY. When he started college in 2005 and was on the track team, he was so busy all the time, that he would call me WHENEVER he had the time. Often times, that was while he was on the track bus. He would say "hey baby." and "whats going on baby" and "i love you baby" and it got to the point where his friends could never remember my name because josh (bf) always just said "baby" so they started referring to me as "baby". To this day. these are my closest friends, and no one calls me "chelsea"...they even introduce me to their friends as "baby" so I cant tell you how many people ive met in the last 4 years that think my name is Baby. This is probably the most personal nickname i will ever have, and it sticks on me so much, i will never lose it, and i dont wish to. smile

I actually don't have any nicknames that people call me in person. I get the occasional Setsuka, but not much else.

Just wanted to say my book came in today! Thank you sweetie! kiss

Oh, haha, you don't have to. I know a few more people that have said they want to donate. I just need to get the link to them. Thank you for what you have donated! It really means a lot to me. The person I know with it was 10 when I met him and even though he is in pain a lot of the time, he never complains. So when I participate in the event, no matter how tough it is, he is my inspiration to keep going.
