I think I'm doomed to blog VERY sporadically.
I couldn't even BEGIN to describe the past month so I'll just say that I spent some hectic times in Melbourne, LA and San Diego, I'm now settled in Santa Cruz, and things are FANTASTIC!!
I'm going to take advantage of my new net connection for a photo attack.
Some fun from before I left:

Isn't my sister an amazing photographer?
Actual USA photos to come.
If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Oh. My. God.
Two sleeps and I'll be eating delicious vegan treats in Melbourne.
Four sleeps and I'll be touching down in Auckland (first time in NZ and I don't get to leave the airport haha).
Five sleeps and I'll be living it up in LA with my best friend!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say I have BIG butterflies.
One of these days I'll post photos of my cuttlefish mission, but for now...
When and where is your next adventure taking place? Have you been there before? What are you most excited about?

I went red:

In case you're wondering why I'm so pale, I also went to hospital:

(don't worry though, I retain my super powers and bear fighting abilities).
A while back I got my seamlines tattooed FINALLY butI have already caused myself minor injury trying to capture them on photobooth, so for once vanity doesn't win out!!
18 days and counting...!!!!!

hola señoras y caballeros!!
i'm sick of trying to choose profile pictures. so for now, you have my love of apples. green only, please.
i'm also sick of capital letters, cask wine, my hair, and living on my mothers lounge room floor.
things i'm not sick of include: scrabble, dancing all night, gin&tonic, cheesy gym classes, spandex clothing, dustin hoffman. all of these come highly recommended.
recently:
scuba diving off rottnest island
catching the overnight bus to melbourne, spending the day, then catching the next overnight bus back (not highly recommended!)
inventing new party games
blowing my budget in second hand bookshops
plotting and planning
wednesday night yoga
ladies that lunch
imminent:
washing dishes 3 days a week to fund my spandex/secondhand books/escaping to california habit
xmas bling in july
giant cuttlefish spotting
adiós mis fanáticos encantadores xx

Finally uploaded some of my Melbourne photos...they made me smile.

It's really starting to aggravate me that I don't have one single photo of myself pulling a remotely attractive facial expression though!! It's like I spot a camera and my eye automatically goes lazy and my tongue pokes out of its own accord. Hahaha.

News in my world right now:
I booked my tickets to the USA. August 23rd!! I'm headed to LA for a bit, down to San Diego, then up to Santa Cruz to get settled. Words CAN NOT describe my level of excitement over this.
My job just gets better and better. Today I spotted a giant hammerhead shark on one of the pieces of footage I was analysing (a highlight since mostly all I've seen at this spot is eagle rays playing around for hours in front of the camera). Also, they captured footage of a great white off Rottnest - only the second ever spotted there - and it was on a day I was out in the water doing snorkel observations!!!
6 days without a drink. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but for me it's a big step forward. Here's to many more.
Booking my next tattoo tomorrow
Things are tough but looking up.

P/S did I mention that Wolverine dislocated her tail? She looks ridiculous. $160 in vet bills and it's still crooked. So much for super healing powers!

Woooooo. I'm two decades old!
I was the last one out of everyone I know to turn 20, so that softened the blow a bit.
My birthday was VERY uneventful. sea_monkey had to work all day and night, as did the other half of our double date, so I sat a calculus test, headed down to the beach by myself to breathe in some sea air, went to the physio, and hung out with my cousins for curry and cake. Worked fine for me.
Adelaide, on the other hand, was absolutely amazing. It was so good to be surrounded by creative, motivated people. Even though I've lived in Perth for coming up to two years, and in that time have made some lovely new friends, I haven't really connected with anyone on an intellectual level, let alone found a posse to rival that back home.
I was totally broke during my week down there but that didn't stop the adventures. I helped my friends with the press release for their upcoming exhibition, worked on a zine with my twin, spent a spooky night playing suck & blow in an abandoned house, danced and drank and wasted far too much time at my beloved cranker, and had cocktails and tapas for my birthday with my mum and sister at the old apothecary. I also went running a whole lot and tried to get my memory flowing, but who wants to hear about that?
So now.....9 more weeks in this little old town! I'm so excited about the future, and as usual don't have a pinch of sadness for everything I'm leaving behind. Maybe one day.

On the spur of the moment I decided to head to Adelaide next week - hooray for frequent flyer points! Hopefully I'll be too busy to lurk online, but I promise to return with many exciting photos.
At work last night the most inspiring woman came to talk to us. She works in Science Communication, and really opened my mind as to future career options. I've never really known how to unite my passions of the ocean, and well...people. But since then my mind has been ticking over with all the possibilities. I love my new job SO MUCH. Last night we also had a tour of the filtration system, the food prep area and the nursery for sick animals. I am falling madly in love with the cuttlefish, the octopus, the leafy sea dragons and the seals...to start with.
Uni is increasingly hectic so I'll leave it there and try to busy myself in a slightly more productive manner!

PS Any Perth people, if you're free on the 26th of April I'd love you to come celebrate my birthday with me. No idea where yet... I'll keep you posted.

Well my wish came true! (For more fun times, that is. Still waiting on the gills).
My old friend Pearl came to Perth for a visit. This girl is one of the most beautiful people I've ever met. We used to work together at The Wilderness Society and never keep in touch unless we're passing through the same city (in which case we head out for adventures). We hit up Hula Bula Bar, I can't believe I've never been there before!! The decor was absolutely amazing and the cocktails
. Plus they played rockabilly all night and the bar staff wore leopard print bowling shirts, what more could I ask for?
The funny thing is, the older I get, the more often I get asked for ID. I guess I do look like a 6 year old...

When we were in Vietnam people kept asking me and my 15 year old sister if we were twins. When we told them we weren't they always guessed she was the older one...I think she was pretty pleased about it actually.
I am so filled with joy that it's the weekend. Last night I went to sleep at 6.30pm and was out cold until about 9am this morning. I was so in need of that sleep, I feel in a much better head space now than I did during the week. I was hoping for some snorkeling action this morning but we've been blessed with bountiful rainfall so instead I'm holed up drinking soda water (addicted) and idly looking through my invertebrate notes - I have a theory AND lab test next week.
my housemate Buzz just brought me a cupcake.
...getting so fucking excited for my big trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welll I found out where I'm headed off to for the last year of my degree!!! Sunny Santa Cruz!! (actually I have no idea if it's sunny....maybe I should wiki the city I plan to move to).
I'm a bit disappointed about no Berkeley but apparently the exchange program had an imbalance and SC was my second choice so.... woo hoo!!
I have spent the last few days manically planning my big adventure.
I have wanted to go back to the US for years and years...in high school I was always planning big road trips across the country (yes, Kerouac inspired, but what do you expect from a 15 year old?). Now it's really happening!!!
Right now I am drinking red bull and eating caramel popcorn and all the sugar is making me kind of jittery like maybe I want to go for a skate...but I left my skateboard in Adelaide. So I guess I'll settle for tidying up to make the house presentable for [MEMBER=sea_monkey's] birthday drinks tomorrow night...
Lately: uni has been driving me insane, I am seriously addicted to ebay, money troubles have been bugging me, some medical woes got slightly sorted out, I miss a lot of people like crazy.
Also: I need to get out more!!! I haven't partied for a good month now. Last night I had one glass of champagne and watched the finale of Dawson's Creek and considered it a wild night. Tragic.
Less than a month until my birthday!!!!
Anyone else planning a big move/ overseas trip??
xxxx
P/S
check out what I found....I would have been about 16 or 17 here, sea_monkey maybe 18. So old school hey...
