We are now moving from writing poetry to writing fiction in this summer workshop class of mine.

Honestly, I did well during the poetry section, and I should stop and share a little bit of my work, at some point I will.

I am a bit worried about the fiction, this is something I have never done. Or done well. I am also excited about the challenge, and tonight I am typing out three opening paragraphs that may or may not turn into short stories.

My only complaint in this class is that there was no prereq for it. So the majority of the class are coming in with no basic understanding of literature. No, I am not kidding. They do not know image, stanza, metaphor, simile, and so on... and they are in a class that is usually 12 weeks, but now it is 4 weeks. They are more than frustrated and I feel it in the atmosphere.

I am lucky in that one of my friends took the class, and she is funny, sassy and sarcastic. She is one that is totally lost in here, but I have tutored her and she is a bit more comfortable now.

I dont know though, we will see how my stories come out....

This weekend was quiet, just as I expected. I read 4 short stories, plus tons of poetry in those four books I checked out. I edited some of my poetry. I also slept a TON.

And of course, I spent a couple of nights with her

Anybody doing anything interesting for the weekend?

I checked out some poetry by Kerouac, Ginsberg, and Garcia-Lorca to read. I also checked out videos that are interviews of Ginsberg, Soto, and Sandra Cisneros.

The weather isnt really good here, windy as hell with rain. So it is a good weekend to hang out, read, write, and drink tea....

Ok, so I am getting tired of being alone. I mean, I hate getting up alone, going to bed alone, and all that jazz. I would love to be with someone that is intelligent, well read, and funny. I live in a small town, the dating pool is SMALL. ugh. That being said, I dont need someone to "complete" me, I want somebody to share life with.

One good thing about me, is that I will not settle. It is sad to see two people together that just sort of settled into a spot that the merely exist in.

I tried to leave comments on two different sets tonight, and it just says "Saving your comment" and never posts them...

I have three poems that I completed for this Creative Writing class that are really solid. Two especially... They are still going through the editing, grading process.

I need to get to bed, my four year old is sleeping with me tonight... Oh man, this is going to be rough. She kicks LOL. My oldest is staying out in the country with my parents and her best friend. I had a huge crush on her best friend's mom, and then I met her... Man, she is just so flat personality wise. I dont even know how to explain it... UGH.

Grades are back!
3 A's, 2 B's. One of my B's was a B+ Not too bad. So in one year back, I have had 9 classes and managed 1 C, 2 B's, and 6 A's.

I am diggin' my Creative Writing course, I needed it.

So, my girls are home, I made dinner and I am introducing my girls to bicycle mechanics as we put some touches on this 1979 Schwinn...

On Monday I begin the summer semester with "Creative Writing", I am very much looking forward to this class. Because I dont have any other classes during this time period, I can concentrate just on this.

Tuesday I get my grades for the last semester. Lets hope I pulled good grades. I am pretty confident in 3 of my 5 classes. The other two I think are Bs

Yesterday I picked up my bike (yes, I love my bikes) from the shop. I also ended up picking up another bike, for free It is a mid-70s Schwinn that has fenders and a book rack and old man handlebars. Iit is pieces right now. I have four bikes in the living room, two Schwinns that are works in progress, and two Specialized Rock Hoppers. Is there a woman that could put up with all this?

I wanted to go to the Sand Dunes to snowshoe this morning, but the winds here are terrible, and I wasnt in the mood to be sandblasted. UGH.

I have been reading the poetry of one of my profs, Aaron Abeyta. Look him up, he is an award winning poet. Great stuff.

I still do not know what to do with my major. Double major and be able to teach K-12? Stay in elementary ed? Just secondary ed? UGH.

So my Specialized Rock Hopper FS is getting a new rear cassett, chain and the front suspesion rebuilt.

I ordered some of the parts needed to make my Super Sport into a fixie. New crank, chainring, and some small parts are on the way

I hear from the girl that stood me up, but I cant seem to get her to commit to going out. Not sure why she bothers conacting me I dont know.

I have been shadowing an English teacher at the "open high" here in town. He told the vice superintendent that he wants me to replace him when he retires in two years

Yeah, so I got stood up. WTF!?!!? If you are not interested, just say so... Dont get it. We were supposed to go out on Sat. I called her Fri to make plans and get it all set up, she didnt answer, left a message and she never returned my call. I gave her the benefit of doubt and dropped her a text on Sat afternoon. Like two hours later she text me that she was up at Wolf Creek and would get ahold of me when she got in.... Never heard anything after that

I am 35. I have a date this weekend with a 22yr old woman I met on campus. EEK. I told myself that there was no way I was going to date college aged women... I made it through one semester and most of a second one. LOL

I thought that it would bring up issues with the difference in age. Just the date. Like, my mom would wonder WTF I was thinking, some of my friends, and that kind of thing. But that hasnt happened at all...

I was surprised by my mom though. See, I am biracial. My dad is Hispanic, my mom is white. They lived through a lot of prejudice in this area, and I dealt with a little. It was always an insult from a white kid about my dad being a Mexican, and then a shot at my mom for marrying one.

Anyway, so what surprised me about my mom was when she started asking some light questions about who this girl is (which is funny, it is just ONE date), and then she dropped the race card when I told her she is Latina... I got the "Sometimes I wish you would date someone that wasnt so... brown, somebody that would understand me."
