I have been MIA for a bit... don't worry, I am still alive.
I broke my old cell phone by bringing it into a jacuzzi. I guess electronics don't like hot water like humans do!
I was without a cell phone for almost 3 weeks... Other than that life is great!

I will try and update better later...
but in the meantime I am listening to:
The Heavy-Great Vengeance and Furious Fire

Last night I went to see Radiohead... I went with my friends and we had some good ol beers in the parking lot, missed out on Grizzly Bear, not to disappointed since I saw them before in a smaller venue and they were just alright. Oh well, I guess for not seeing them for 10 yrs I should have expected newer stuff.

Well Thursday night is going to be much fun... I am seeing
Brutal Truth
Pig Destroyer
Javelina
@ the First Unitarian Church
This show will be probably the metal show of the year for me! I have always wanted to see Brutal Truth! I can see them and with one of my favorite metal bands... Pig Destroyer! If you are in philly and like metal, don't fuckin miss this show!!! ARRR!!!

Ok OK its been a while since I posted in this and I should probably update it.
Keep the readers up to date, all maybe 3 or 4 of you hahaha(kidding). Well I picked Instinto up from the airport and later in the week we chilled for a weekend. I took her for an early birthday present to see Circle Jerks/Dillinger Four/Paint it Black/Matt and Kim/Monotonix/Team Robosphere(or whatever).
The show review...
Team Robosphere started the show off and was a synth pop band that wasn't very good. They really didn't do it for me at all, but they had alot of the young crowd bouncin around.
Monotonix played second, they are a guitar/drummer/singer trio from Tel Aviv,Israel. They were seriously one of the most insane live acts I have seen! Their music also is just as good as their live show. They are like 70's riffage, some hendrix, and some zappa influences. But their live show starts in the middle of the club floor, then in between songs and sometimes during songs they move their set to other parts of the club. The singer will sometimes take the drummers equipment and play it himself. The singer also kneeled on my shoulders for a song at one point. They also ended up outside by the dumpster and started throwing fresh bags of trash at the people. To end the set they played ontop of people.

Matt and Kim had to follow an act like that which is hard and they definitely weren't my thing at all, but again they appealed to the younger crowd for their keyboard and drum duo. They played synth pop/dancie mix and looked like they had a lot of fun.
Paint it Black was on after them, and of course Paint it Black playing in philly, there is no better place to see them and Instinto was so happy to see that. She experienced the best hardcore scene and I am happy she enjoyed it and appreciated it. Paint it Black played pretty well, the guitar sounded like shit but they still put on a solid show. They got people revved up for what I think was the best band of the night...
Dillinger Four, I have had quite a history trying to see these guys live. For one, they barely tour, but I had a chance 8 or 9 yrs ago to see them with Avail and the venue got shut down. Then I had a good chance to see them a year or two ago and the show sold out but then I found out there was a 2nd show later that day and the bassist/singer had an intestinal problem and so they didn't play. Well I finally get to see them and they didn't upset at all! I loved every second of their angry punk rants! They were everything I expected and more.
Circle Jerks played after that and well it was alright but I was not looking forward to sitting through 27 songs(as they announced at the beginning) because they were just as mediocre as I remember them being. I was outside most of the time, then Instinto wanted to leave also.

The next day I took her back to philly to do a little shopping, which I think I did more because we hit up a record store and I picked up some sweet scores... such as:
Captain Beefheart-Trout Mask Replica(repress)
Shellac-Terraformer
Dillinger Four-Midwestern Songs of the Americas
Can-Ege Bamyasi(on green)

Well this week has been fun as well, had work which is fun since the teacher in there is amazing and is a lot of fun to work with, it doesn't hurt that she is young and cute and is also a blast to hang out with at bars after work. This past thursday night I went to AC with my bro, my uncle and my uncle's friend to see The Dark Knight on IMAX!!! We first got some dinner at Cuba Libre and then waited in line for about an hour and a half to be let in! I will not put any spoilers since it is awesome, but I will say believe the hype and go see it for yourself because it was everything the hype said it was and more. Aaron Ekhart and Heath Ledger were amazing in the movie. The film was visually amazing as well since I saw it on IMAX some of those panning and flying scenes were amazing! Also its dark as hell and is not a movie for the family, I would say keep the kids at home due to the violence.

Highlights from Insubordination Fest for me was
Be My Doppleganger from the first night, they were real good!
before the start of friday my friend proved me wrong and we found a bagel place, it was decent, but not great. Bought records at Celebrated Summer Records(which is quite a nice establishment in towson). Saw Wall-E, which was fantastic(go see it!). The first 4 bands to start off Friday rocked. Deep Sleep was good and energetic, The Dopamines were good and had a lot of fun egging people on to throw beer cans at them, Dear Landlord was real good, I want to hear a full length from them. OWTH was awesome(I shared with ryan my thoughts about a new song, that there are no good bagels south of philadelphia, bought the man a beer and shared some good laughs. Ryan hates playing shows and hates pop punk hahaha). Got back from dinner to catch the end of the Drunken Cholos who were playing old Queers songs with Wimpy singing which was fun as hell, I love it everytime wimpy sings "I like young girls"(he still does, he had a nice young 20 something at his arm all weekend). Kepi Ghoulis were fun to watch. Ann Beretta was pretty lackluster, even though I was never a fan, the last time I saw them was opening for Boy Sets Fire. The Copyrights and the Ergs sets were awesome(I got threatened by a dudes gf for asking her to come back to my hotel room during Joey Ergs speech about how girls should have the easiest time getting laid at the fest this weekend and if they didn't they should hang it up, I was drunk and didn't care!)

Saturday was a marathon!
I saw short attention to open up. This band makes me happy everytime I see them. They are always so energetic and waste no time wit their sets playing as many songs as possible. Saw some of the Proteens set and it was alright nothing great so I went outside to sit. I walked in near the end of Karmellas Game, not to into their style of pop, but wanted to see Chinese Telephones who were on next who were fantastic. They were fun for seeing them FINALLY! Next was Doc Hopper who was fun nothing amazing but what I expected. Lunch Break before For Science and Lemuria. Both bands are some of my favorites playing the fest. For Science was fun but Joe the guitarist was in his own little world. I took another break then saw the most fun set of the fest which was The Steinways. Very hysterical and I loved the signs. The Zatopeks were very energetic and a pleasant surprise. I then saw the Monikers and they were pretty good but the sound guy wasn't very cooperative but the set was still fun. As I said before I saw the tail end of the Sludgeworth set and wish I saw more. I then saw half of the Double Dagger set and was blown away. Bass and Drum band which was very fun! I was then done with the fest and sat outside while jeff and adam watched some of the Weston set.

I am now beaten and I am tired. It was yet another awesome weekend!

Well my weekend was a fucking blast!!!
Friday my friends called me to go see The Happening... Lets just say it was the best comedy of the year(for those who don't catch sarcasm through computer screens... it wasn't intended to be one). M. Night Shamalan can't write a script worth his life and I don't know if the acting was supposed to be deliberately bad or if it was just bad, but that also was terrible! Best parts of the movies were the death scenes. Shamalan should just make zombie flicks where you don't have to really act.

Saturday I went and saw my friend's band's last show... Dear Tonight Their music was good, but even more so they were good friends to have! I traveled to brooklyn to see them play a free show and it was well worth the gas and the tolls. The best band of the night though is one of jersey's own In First Person. They opened the show and it was great way to open the show!!! I didn't really watch the bands in between in first person and Dear Tonight... wasn't to interested in them. I have seen them all before except Attica Attica but I will give them to you to make the judgement if you like them or not.
Attica Attica-he did a good billy joel cover from what I could here from the bar while I watched silent indiana jones movies and drank beer.
Scream Hello-pretty decent indie rock with an energetic bassist.
The New Dress a guitarist/vocalist paired with a girl singer duo. Pretty sloppy guitar playing and they covered a band that wasn't broken up or a band that hasn't been around for at least 20 yrs. They covered Against Me from a song off of Reinventing Axl Rose.

Also I got my tickets for a couple good shows in the mail... plus I am taking Instinto to the circle jerks/dillinger4/paint it black show! I am looking forward to chillin and stage diving!

Well lets see what is new since last time...
I finished school for the semester! Very happy about that! I am not happy about(and this is where the rant comes in... hopefully not to long)how the school has dicked me over and saying I would be ready to have my bachelors. They say I have 1 class left... thats right 1 class left!!! I hate that the satelite program gets pretty much shit on for scholarship money, etc... Plus I guess I have to get my masters through them too, ugh!(not to bad... hahahaha)

In other news last night I went to west philadelphia to see a sweet metal/hardcore show.
Disfear(sweden)
Kylesa
Thrones(just joe preston formerly of the melvins and high on fire)
Straightjacket Nation(from australia)
Trap Them
This show was sweet as hell, I was supposed to go out with this russian girl I have had the hots for, but she canceled right when I was about to leave to pick her ass up. Glad she made that decision! I picked up my friend adam and we went to get pizza and ran into his friend jim at Allegro Pizza on the Penn campus area(thank god the kids went home!) Then went to the Millcreek Tavern and start drinking!
Trap Them started and they fuckin were tighter then when I saw them last year in some basement, plus the sound was better! They really have come a long way in a year or two! Good metal stylings mixed with punk and hardcore, give them a listen if you are into metal or punk.
Straightjacket Nation(from australia) was a band I was interested in since they were the only straight up hardcore band, also being from australia, how often would I see them. They were pretty good. They were real fast and had abrupt and sometimes sloppy pace changes, which was alright but I like smoother less sloppy changes in pace tongue . Still they were alot of fun.
I didn't stick around for Thrones, since i have seen Joe's act twice and am not really impressed with his stylings of noise. I took a break to get pizza 2 blocks away.
I missed part of Kylesa due to being sociable. But they played good, I guess I am not to into them. I have seen them a couple times and each time sounds different. They were really tight with the added second drummer, but I guess maybe I just need to sit down and listen to the new record.
Disfear(sweden) was a ton of fun! At this point I had worked up a good buzz all for letting loose and trying to dive off the miniscule stage they had set up, and yes even with a bad ankle! Got to love what I do to my body when I have fun!!! Hell it made my night to hear them play Powerload and take out people jumping into them!
