Well my weekend was a fucking blast!!!
Friday my friends called me to go see The Happening... Lets just say it was the best comedy of the year(for those who don't catch sarcasm through computer screens... it wasn't intended to be one). M. Night Shamalan can't write a script worth his life and I don't know if the acting was supposed to be deliberately bad or if it was just bad, but that also was terrible! Best parts of the movies were the death scenes. Shamalan should just make zombie flicks where you don't have to really act.
Saturday I went and saw my friend's band's last show... Dear Tonight Their music was good, but even more so they were good friends to have! I traveled to brooklyn to see them play a free show and it was well worth the gas and the tolls. The best band of the night though is one of jersey's own In First Person. They opened the show and it was great way to open the show!!! I didn't really watch the bands in between in first person and Dear Tonight... wasn't to interested in them. I have seen them all before except Attica Attica but I will give them to you to make the judgement if you like them or not.
Attica Attica-he did a good billy joel cover from what I could here from the bar while I watched silent indiana jones movies and drank beer.
Scream Hello-pretty decent indie rock with an energetic bassist.
The New Dress a guitarist/vocalist paired with a girl singer duo. Pretty sloppy guitar playing and they covered a band that wasn't broken up or a band that hasn't been around for at least 20 yrs. They covered Against Me from a song off of Reinventing Axl Rose.
Also I got my tickets for a couple good shows in the mail... plus I am taking Instinto to the circle jerks/dillinger4/paint it black show! I am looking forward to chillin and stage diving!

Well lets see what is new since last time...
I finished school for the semester! Very happy about that! I am not happy about(and this is where the rant comes in... hopefully not to long)how the school has dicked me over and saying I would be ready to have my bachelors. They say I have 1 class left... thats right 1 class left!!! I hate that the satelite program gets pretty much shit on for scholarship money, etc... Plus I guess I have to get my masters through them too, ugh!(not to bad... hahahaha)
In other news last night I went to west philadelphia to see a sweet metal/hardcore show.
Disfear(sweden)
Kylesa
Thrones(just joe preston formerly of the melvins and high on fire)
Straightjacket Nation(from australia)
Trap Them
This show was sweet as hell, I was supposed to go out with this russian girl I have had the hots for, but she canceled right when I was about to leave to pick her ass up. Glad she made that decision! I picked up my friend adam and we went to get pizza and ran into his friend jim at Allegro Pizza on the Penn campus area(thank god the kids went home!) Then went to the Millcreek Tavern and start drinking!
Trap Them started and they fuckin were tighter then when I saw them last year in some basement, plus the sound was better! They really have come a long way in a year or two! Good metal stylings mixed with punk and hardcore, give them a listen if you are into metal or punk.
Straightjacket Nation(from australia) was a band I was interested in since they were the only straight up hardcore band, also being from australia, how often would I see them. They were pretty good. They were real fast and had abrupt and sometimes sloppy pace changes, which was alright but I like smoother less sloppy changes in pace
. Still they were alot of fun.
I didn't stick around for Thrones, since i have seen Joe's act twice and am not really impressed with his stylings of noise. I took a break to get pizza 2 blocks away.
I missed part of Kylesa due to being sociable. But they played good, I guess I am not to into them. I have seen them a couple times and each time sounds different. They were really tight with the added second drummer, but I guess maybe I just need to sit down and listen to the new record.
Disfear(sweden) was a ton of fun! At this point I had worked up a good buzz all for letting loose and trying to dive off the miniscule stage they had set up, and yes even with a bad ankle! Got to love what I do to my body when I have fun!!! Hell it made my night to hear them play Powerload and take out people jumping into them!

well this past weekend was my birthday, the 9th. I had a hell of a weekend.
My friends are amazing! They made me a birthday cake, got me my favorite beer, and enjoyed my company at the bar. I am so happy to have them!
This week I will be at:
Negative Approach
clockclean ER
Dustheads
@ the Southpaw in Brooklyn on Wednesday night. Get a ticket and hang and watch me dive and almost kill myself.
The next night I will be in Philadelphia supporting the Penguins in their persuit of the Stanley Cup. They are up 2-0 going into Philadelphia against the Flyers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
So far being 25 has ruled!

My life has been kind of boring the last week and a half since I have been just buying records, and studying to try and get out of college for good!
Hope to see people at these shows because they are awesome music!
Happy Passover to everyone who is jewish!
Edit-I did go see Smart People last night, I thought it was very well made, made me laugh with its wity humor. I also liked seeing the people transform throughout the movie. Some parts were boring, but over all I recomend this movie, I don't want to go into depths about it because I really don't want to spoil it for anybody. But I think Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker did an amazing job in it, well the whole cast was awesome, just throwing names out there to make you go see it

Well what have I been up to the last what 2 weeks?
Oh lets see I have been going to shows as usual! I can't even remember all the shows I have been to. But there have been a lot of music and a lot of beer and of course a lot of FUN!
Well I finally did it, I ran out of places to put records sooooooooooooo I made plans to get a shelving unit to house my records!

I had fun going to Ikea and making a day of it with my friend christina... We started off getting food at the cafeteria, then we slowly walked and looked in the showroom. this alone was so much fun. Then we made our way down to the self service area and found the box I needed! After that what else should we do after I increase my record space, why not get records... DUUUUUUUUUUH!
We went to Beautiful World Syndicate in South Philly. Great selection of used records! then after that.. what would be a better way to end a great day then with getting Pizza and drinking beers on my friend's roof and shootin the shit! Saturday was a perfect day!
Sunday... I had to clean, rearrange, and put together the shelves. I am happy with the outcome! But shiiiiiiiiiit it killed me!

Well I am on spring break from work... nanana pooopoooo on everyone who is working right now!!! Gosh do I love the education system!!!
I had some fun this past weekend!
Thursday night I saw an up and coming band from brooklyn play. A Place To Bury Strangers. They played with Holy Fuck at johnny brendas. A Place to Bury Strangers sounds like a very distorted Joy Division, also along the lines of Jesus and Mary Chain and a little Interpol. They are an amazing live band, very very very very loud! Holy Fuck is a lo-fi electronic rock group that doesn't use computers(which is rare for electronic rock these days). They were alright, not my thing.
Friday night I went to see Genghis Tron, Oneida, Coliseum, and some band I didn't get to see. Coliseum, metal/punk outfits from louisville are amazing, angry and pissed off at the united states among other things. they get better every time I see them! Oneida was really cool, a little out of place to have a psychrock band on this bill but they were really really really good! I have been on a Psychrock kick as of late and loving most of what I hear!!! I left before Genghis Tron. I left to hang with my friend Chris before he went back to Louisville. It was good to see him!
Saturday and Sunday were relatively quiet because I wasn't feeling so well. OH WELL!
Tonight I went to see Acid Mothers Temple and Danava at... wait you can probably guess, Johnny Brendas
(I love this venue!) Well Danava was kinda eh. They were pretty blatantly ripping off Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath lick for lick and not very well I may add! Acid Mothers Temple were quite amazing! They just blast you into space with their soothing synth tones and then rip you back down to earth with shredding guitar solos that are indescribable! Also the bass lines were so fast and all over the place! It sounds like chaos when I describe it but it really is quite complex and flows together!!!
I leave you with this...Acid Mothers Temple

This week was hella fun!!!
I went to see Pulling Teeth, Staring Problem, Celebrity Murders, and this band called Orenthal James.
The show was in a basement and a shit ton of kids came and it was a fuckin blast!!! That is what hardcore is all about! Having fun, respecting eachother and enjoying the music!
Later in that week I had some amazing sushi, took out a girl... went to Fuji in Haddonfield, NJ. It was for Restaurant Week in South Jersey, but we didn't get the special we got rolls and seaweed salad, delicious! Then friday I hung with my friends for a low key night of drinking which turned into Truth or Dare which was more fun then I imagined it would be! Then last night I went bowling with the same crowd.
Today I pretty much spent it low key talking to Sharona1881 and talking about all things random... she is quite cool.
and the video I would like to share with everyone...

Last night I went to Johnny Brendas last night with some awesome friends! We went to see some sweet bands and while waiting put back some awesome beer! Plus its beer week so Johnny Brendas had a ton of new awesome beer! I had some Philadelphia Brewing Co. Kenzinger, which is brand new and is really good! I recomend it for people in philadelphia! I also had some Scotch ale... pretty good. The bands scheduled to rock were Lozen(who's van broke down in Harrisburg), Mountain High, and Stinking Lizaveta. It started real late since Lozen didn't show up. But when it started the bands were a lot of fun. I got a few good Pictures of the show. Check them out and tell me what you think.
Tomorrow I am going to see Pulling Teeth/Celebrity Murders/Staring Problem/Mother Night in a basement in New Brunswick. I probably will be leaving before Pulling teeth.
