the stewbaka tattoo test
i had belong to a couple tattoo groups on myspace and a couple tattoo web sites things that are like myspace and i see people talking about bad tattoo. my first two tattoos where done bad and I'm going to have to get them redone. and from watching other people i came up with a couple steps and or a test to prevent bad tattoos. i call it THE STEWBAKA TATTOO TEST.
1a. find some people with great tattoos. ask them which tattoo shops in the area have the best tattoo artist. if they say more then one artist and more then one shop. go to every shop you are told about. brink some art with you if you can.
1b. or you get your phonebook and look up the address of every shop and go visit everyone. brink some art with you if you can.
2. when you go to a shop make sure when you walk in its clean.
3. people test. if the shop is any good or the artist there will be someone in the shop omust anytime of the day.
4. ask to see the tattoo artist you heard about or ever tattoo artist that works there portfolio of tattoos they have done. to make sure there work is good.
5. for me this is the most important one. not every tattoo artist draw. some cant draw anything. for me if they can't draw better then me I'm off to find someone different. you want a tattoo artist that can draw just in case the stencil doesn't fully transfer they can draw it in where they need to.
6. then take out the art work you came with and ask how much it would be. i have been to alot of shops that where ether not that good or that sucked and they over charged people or where will to do a 400$ tattoo for 100$. some over charge becouse they no you wont like it and never come back. and the ones that under charge think you will comeback to save money even if the tattoo is bad. the prices at a awesome shop will just sound right and they will not screw you over.
7. don't get a tattoo from some that is high or drunk. if they have to smoke pot or get a shoot before they can tattoo just run away. you can smoke or drink with them when the tattoo is done just don't let them do it before or during the tattoo..
-remember-
ask around,
clean shop,
customers,
look at portfolio,
make sure they can draw,
reasonable prices,
no drugs or alcohol before or during, undefinedThe Stewbaka Tattoo Test

so do you plan on getting your tats redone in the area? just curious what your opinions of the local shops and artists are...
btw i have some crappy diy tattoos which i'm always covering up, so yeah- one of these days i'm getting them redone too. then i'll start getting some real nice professional artwork done- i will definately be picky about who i let do it and all the tips you stated are good advice.
